The Science of Getting Rich – 10 Inspirational Quotes

January 29, 2024

Wallace D. Wattles (1860-1911) wrote the classic The Science of Getting Rich because he believed becoming wealthy, getting rich, is a science in the same way there’s a system to how arithmetic works. He shared that once this science is understood and implemented, people can become rich.

In 2006 during a Newsweek interview, Rhonda Byrne said that Wattles’ The Science of Getting Rich was her inspiration for her hit film and book The Secret, that demonstrates the Law of Attraction.

Below are quotes from Wallace Wattles.

With gratitude,

Virginia

“The grateful mind is constantly fixated upon the best. Therefore it tends to become the best. It takes the form or character from the best, and will receive the best.”

“You can never become a great man or woman until you have overcome anxiety, worry, and fear. It is impossible for an anxious person, a worried one, or a fearful one to perceive truth; all things are distorted and thrown out of their proper relations by such mental states.”

“The very best thing you can do for the world is to make the most of yourself.”

“You must get rid of the thought of competition. You are to create. Not to compete for what is already created.”

“By thought, the thing you want is brought to you. By action, you receive it.”

“Abandon everything you have outgrown.”

“Talk about the happy times you had in your youth, and forget all the unhappy times.”

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.”

“Nothing that is possible in spirit is impossible in flesh and blood. Nothing that man can think is impossible. Nothing that man can imagine is impossible of realization.”

“You can become what you want to be.”

Is This a Turning Point in Your Life?

May 1, 2023

Once upon a time there was a farmer named Sei Weng who had one horse and one son. One day the horse wandered away, and the neighbors commented that this was unfortunate. The farmer replied, “How do you know it’s bad luck?”

Soon after the horse returned bringing several wild mares with him. The neighbors congratulated him on his good luck. Ah, what lovely, strong horses! However, the farmer responded by saying, “How do you know it’s good luck?”

The son was thrown while riding one of the wild horses and broke his leg. His neighbors once again commented on how sorry they were for his bad luck, at which the farmer said, “Good luck, bad luck. Who knows?”

A war came, and every able-bodied man was conscripted into the military and sent into battle. Because he had a broken leg, the old man’s son didn’t have to go to war. The neighbors were excited about his good fortune, but the farmer remarked, “Is it good or is it bad?”

Another version of this folktale concludes with, “That’s the way it is.” Another says that fortune turns to misfortune, and misfortune to fortune. There is no end to changes, and the mystery can’t be known.

Because the farmer was emotionally detached and didn’t go along with everyone’s thinking, he was able to see a bigger picture.

Life presents both challenges and blessings. Your perspective determines how they affect you and your ability to make your dreams come true and live your best life.

According to the Chaos Theory our lives are always in chaos, and this is what opens us to fresh forms and possibilities.

When we reach what is called a “bi-furcation point,” a “point of departure” takes place, and a “self-organization out of chaos” occurs.

In other words, events that serve as turning points create a new order and structure.

Instead of adversely reacting to circumstances that seem bad, consider they may be a portal to something greater than you currently can imagine.

A messy divorce may be a ticket to personal empowerment and overcoming fear.

Challenging health, work, family or relationship issues, the loss or lack of worldly goods or money, or pain may be what cracks the shell to allow humility and what’s truly important to be seen… and the impetus to get real or pursue one’s dreams.

You can choose your perspective. Look deeper.

No matter how it appears, things change. The highs become lows or ordinary.

Regardless of how frustrated or hopeless aspects of your life may seem, this too shall pass… into something better if you allow yourself to see.

The Quicksand of Fear and Financial Stress… And What to Do So It Doesn’t Pull You Down

January 23, 2023

“When your internal reference point is your spirit, when you are immune to criticism and unfearful of any challenge, you can harness the power of love, and use energy creatively for the experience of affluence and evolution.”

Deepak Chopra, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

Fear was my #1 issue during a personal growth session in 1991. It took us two hours to reveal what the particular fear was: everything! It took me years to recognize the insidious ways fear had molded my life since childhood.

Like attracts like. When the vibration of fear precedes actions, the results reflect that energy. What follows is lack; struggle; failure; disappointment; frustration; worry; anxiety; loss of business; financial hardship; and that dreadful fear of the future – “what if” things don’t work out and I face a fate worse than death?

Especially when I felt justified, being afraid was like adding sugar to yeast – “Just look at my circumstances. Anyone in them would feel this way.” Fear multiplied which attracted more things to be afraid about.

Once when my budget was screaming “ouch,” I feared missing a credit card payment. I knew someone this happened to, and her rates skyrocketed. My negative musings caused me unconsciously to pay my bill from an account where I don’t keep money… and I missed my payment.

My preoccupation with my imagined, financial ruin also had me overlook paying my water bill. I opened the top portion of a letter sent to alert me and set it aside thinking it was next month’s bill. Only minutes after coming home from burying my cat who died suddenly and discovering my water had been turned off did I see it was a disconnect notice.

I had the money, but I was so consumed with fearing future financial disasters that I created them!  As Job said, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”

You may have been pulled into the quicksand of fear. Once you start sliding down its slippery slope, every frantic breath has you descend into it more deeply.

My successes occurred when I let go of fear.

What is quicksand, and how does it work?

Quicksand is just a soupy mix of water trapped in ordinary sand that can’t escape, a liquefied soil that can’t support weight. It can occur almost anywhere if the right conditions are present. Contrary to being the frightening, bottomless pit portrayed in the movies, it rarely is deeper than a few feet.

Stepping into quicksand will not swallow you whole or suck you under, but thrashing about will force you deeper into it.
The more you struggle, the faster you sink.

Most people who drown in quicksand or in any liquid are those who panic and start flailing their arms and legs. However, it’s easier to break free of it than you may think.

To escape you have to stop fighting. Breathe. The key is not to panic.

The way out is to relax and make slow movements back to the surface.

Because your body is less dense than the quicksand, your body will float to the surface if you let go of the struggle and relax.

In fact, it’s easier to float on quicksand than on water. Once afloat, you can find your way back to safety.

Hmm, so similar to fear – how we drown in it and how we can escape its murky mud.

Overcome Fear Like an Olympian

August 15, 2022

We’ve been wowed by dreams coming true for Olympian glory. Just ask David Boudia from Abilene, Texas, who won the gold for diving in 2012.

He interviewed with an Indianapolis Star reporter and shared insights about what “separates your cream of the crop Olympians to the ones who don’t make it as far.”

The difference, he said, is understanding and respecting fear.

Initially, anyone would be terrified of diving head first into the water, and Boudia was no exception as a kid.

“I worked hard mentally to approach it so I was able to control my thoughts a little better. To be able to understand how to visualize it and see it in my head.”

David Boudia, Olympian Gold Medalist

He drew stick figures to be able to see his success and overcome his fears.

Let’s consider one way that fear affects the brain.

The striatum is a part of the brain that works like muscle memory. It operates on autopilot – an emotional and mental default program that reacts the same way over and over again.

For example:

  • Do you have a tendency to respond repeatedly to situations with anger and frustration or by seeing the silver lining?
  • Is the glass half empty or half full?
  • Do you think what if things don’t work out or what if they do?
  • Is fear something to be avoided at all cost or befriended?

Your responses comprise some of your automatic programs.

According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, athletes train their amygdala, the memory center of the brain, to make the connection of stress with success, and they don’t even consider failure.

The amygdala is the integrative center for emotions, emotional behavior, and motivation.

To be richly compensated doing what you love involves creating a vortex of energy where you are a magnet of success.

Connecting the dots, when you’ve trained your brain and emotions for success, you can overcome fear and attract your ideal outcomes like an Olympian.

All is NOT Lost! What to do if Things Don’t Work the Way You Thought.

September 24, 2019

What do you do when you’ve invested a lot of energy into results that don’t happen?

You were really counting on that contract to come through, but now it’s up-in-the-air. A friend said she’d help you move but bailed at the last minute. Your relationship falls apart.

Things just didn’t work out the way you thought they should or would.

A freelancer counted on her big client to provide a steady flow of income. She had a realistic expectation this would continue.

Suddenly, she was let go.

After the initial shock, she put it in perspective. She used a journaling exercise found on my blog and had a CEO meeting with God. https://soulgoals.wordpress.com/category/ceo-meeting-with-god/  (Scroll down to the post on October 2, 2009.)

She realized she now had time to focus on projects and business ideas she’d put off.

Things don’t always work as expected. But change always makes way for something better, regardless of how it appears in the moment.

Your income, love, support, health and results don’t come from only one source. God, the Divine, is your supply. God or the universe, whatever word is in alignment with your beliefs, is never lost and offers infinite possibilities. Therefore, if something doesn’t work, new ways are found.

Maybe the change is what it took for you to let go and allow new possibilities to occur.

Sometimes you have to let go to free yourself.

Remember the proverbial monkey who grasps something in a vase but can’t remove it? The neck of the vase is so narrow that he has to release his grip just to get his hand out.

You’ll get results: your expectation, goal or something better. However, you may need to change your perspective or approach.

You may need to let go of your emotional and mental grasp to allow something better to come in.

What you focus on grows. In the past, have you chosen anxiety? Instead, enjoy a childlike trust and curiosity. Look for how the universe is assisting you. Consider it a mystery, and you delight in discovering an answer.

Believe there’s a happy ending, and focus on it. Why not? You probably tried fear and worry (over and over again), and they don’t produce lasting and fulfilling outcomes.

By the way, about out freelancer. All was far from lost. New jobs appeared through happenstance, and her big client came back a few months later. Her job situation worked out when she let go and shifted her perspective.

TIP: Overcome Fear Like an Olympian

August 16, 2016
 key - fearless3
We’ve been wowed by dreams coming true for Olympian glory. Just ask David Boudia from Abilene, Texas, who won the gold for diving in 2012.

Last week, he interviewed with an Indianapolis Star reporter and shared insights about what “separates your cream of the crop Olympians to the ones who don’t make it as far.”

He drew stick figures to be able to see his success and overcome his fears.

Let’s consider one way that fear affects the brain.

The striatum is a part of your brain that works like muscle memory. It operates on autopilot – an emotional and mental default program that reacts the same way over and over again.

For example:

Do you have a tendency to respond repeatedly to situations with anger and frustration or by seeing the silver lining?

Is the glass half empty or half full?

Do you think what if things don’t work out or what if they do?

Is fear something to be avoided at all cost or befriended?

Your responses comprise some of your automatic programs.

According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, athletes train their amygdala, the memory center of the brain, to make the connection of stress with success, and they don’t even consider failure.

The amygdala is the integrative center for emotions, emotional behavior, and motivation.

To be richly compensated doing what you love involves creating a vortex of energy where you are a magnet of success.

Connecting the dots, when you’ve trained your brain and emotions for success, you attract it.

Masterminders meet to focus attention on their goals as they align with a field of mastermind energy that can and does manifest goals they choose or something better.

This fun and consistent practice creates a perspective of success which becomes muscle memory for the brain.

The mastermind experience of seeing and feeling success rewires the brain to attract miracles and successes.

Mastermind energy aligns you in a zone where everything works out for you, regardless of how it appears.

It’s like someone falling in a mud puddle and finding a $100 bill.

Masterminding is brain training that puts the kibosh on limiting beliefs butting in about why you can’t do what you love and make your dreams come true.

Napoleon Hill, author of the classic Think and Grow Rich, describes the mastermind.

When two or more people coordinate in a spirit of HARMONY, and work toward a definite objective, they place themselves in position, through that alliance, to absorb power directly from the great universal storehouse of Infinite Intelligence. This is the greatest of all sources of POWER. It is the source to which the genius turns. It is the source to which every great leader turns, (whether he may be conscious of the fact or not).

It’s with our great enthusiasm and caring for others to be free, have fun and live fruitful lives that our masterminders will meet on Sunday afternoon, August 28, to share tips and stories for you to see and feel how your dreams can come true.

More details about Free, Fun & Fruitful are included after the TIP.

Your TIP is to know that you deserve a life of inner and outer freedom where you look forward with happy anticipation of another wonderful day.

You deserve not to worry and be free of fear, which is simply a learned response.

How do I know this? Everyone deserves it, and that includes YOU!

As you wake up, begin by looking for the goodness in your life.

Choose to break any habit you may have of looking for yesterday’s problems to start your day and regurgitating them into the present.

Recognize any challenges you have, but put fear in perspective.

In doing this, you’ll attract Olympic gold in YOUR life.
