How did she do it?
Throughout the year, issues and challenges came up for my client. Each time, during her coaching sessions, we clarified how she could address these.
As a result, her motto, which is featured in bold and colored print at the top of her goals and strategy for the year, is now this:
MY JOB IS TO HAVE FUN!
MY ENERGY IS ALIGNED TO HAVE FUN, WORK LESS, EARN MORE MONEY with GRACE & EASE!
When my client started to work with me, she was a rookie. She used to say, her phone was glued to her hip for fear of missing a call and business.
While practicing what she had been taught was the way to success, she became an addict, addicted to her work. By the way, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a definition of addict is “to devote or surrender (oneself) to something habitually or obsessively.”
However, she came to realize that she was so busy setting herself up for the future that she wasn’t living in the present.
She was living to work, not working to live.
Work wasn’t enjoyable because she believed she had to retire before having fun. Even when she achieved her goal of seven-weeks of vacation a year, she wasn’t enjoying herself.
People began to annoy her. Work became a chore. She began to long for early retirement until she had this awareness:
“Many of us have been brought up to believe that we’re supposed to work hard, put our nose to the grind stone (ouch) and struggle to get ahead. It’s the way we were programmed to think. But this isn’t true.”
That’s the way she thought until she had a wake-up call due to emergency surgery that took her a year before she got her mojo back. Then she knew she had to approach things differently, and she was open to change.
Recently, after a slower schedule during the holidays, she thought she had to “push herself” to start work again after leisurely vegging on Hallmark TV movies. She felt she had to “make herself” get out of what she felt was her comfort zone, even though she didn’t feel comfortable being there any more.
Her old pattern kicked in of pushing herself out of her so-called comfort zone that actually wasn’t comfortable anymore. What she was ready for was to return to her comfort zone.
Consider this:
She was beginning to feel uncomfortable vegging out. If she simply followed what she felt like doing, stop watching so much TV, and switched her focus of attention to business, she’d be in alignment with what her Essence was guiding her to do.
If you’re pushing or trying to make things happen, you’re working against yourself and the guidance your Essence is communicating to you.
There was no need to make re-engaging in work a struggle. Nor did she have to push herself, create a story about how she had to get back to business or tell herself that she had to stop being so comfortable… because continuing to watch TV had become an UNcomfortable zone.
The key was for her to return to her comfort zone, and continuing to watch TV while berating herself was not comfortable.
It was time to consciously align her energy with her inner spirit instead of fighting it.
Responding to shifting winds while riding in a sailboat requires changing course. It’s just part of the sport. When shifting tides in life occur, change course. It’s just part of life. Associated story and drama are neither required nor helpful.
Your Essence will guide you to where you need to be. If you’re not happy, not having fun, not feeling good, pushing yourself or making yourself wrong for not doing more, no matter how you try to justify it, you’re out of sync with your spirit and inner guidance.
How can you work less? How can you make more money? Have more fun!
“Reduce your workload by 30% and increase your fun load by 30% and you will increase your revenues by 100%. And you will increase your productivity by 10,000%. (If there could be such a percentage.) More fun, less struggle — more results on all fronts.”
Abraham-Hicks, Excerpted from Salt Lake City, UT on 9/9/00
A reason this works is that you align your energy to receive wisdom from within. When you do this, you’re guided to the very best direction for you. Follow this, and you’re golden.
Principle #4 in Resolved for Results is “… I take action by following through with my inspiration and guidance.”
When you do what you love, instead of working hard, you’ll do inspired work. Because of this, you’ll be more productive, receive better results, make more money, and most important, enjoy your life more.
If you feel stuck in work or activities you don’t enjoy, find something within that scope that’s pleasing to you. It’s there. When you turn your antenna in a direction to receive greater joy, you will be led to more and more of what you love.
With gratitude,
Virginia

Four long-time friends got together and formed a business. Two of the partners had limited thinking, were negative and unsupportive.
Before becoming my client, he complained about them to his other partner whose positive approach was more in alignment with his. He tried to make changes happen with the other two by talking with them. But they had strong beliefs that justified why they felt the way they did, which they considered sound thinking, practical and business-savvy.
From their logical analysis, businesses like theirs are hard to get started. There’s too much competition; people don’t spend money this time of year; people don’t have money for these services; and on and on.
In spite of my client’s well-intentioned efforts, and with all of his frustration, criticism and trying to enlighten them, two of his partners didn’t change. And their new business wasn’t moving along very quickly either.
When he started to take my Resolved for Results Success and Mastermind Program, he realized that disapproving of and talking about what you don’t want only energizes it so you get more of what you don’t want. Crazy sounding and backwards from how we think life should be, I know, but that’s the way universal energy works: what you focus on is what you get.
In his decision to apply what he was learning, he shifted his attention away from two of his partners’ actions and attitudes.
In its place, he chose to talk and think about what he wanted. He focused on his positive partner and the business doing well, and he didn’t allow himself to be distracted by the negativity of the other two.
A few hours after the fifth session with his Resolved for Results team, his new habit of thinking and feeling paid off. The two partners, who had been challenging, decided to step aside. It was all done amicably and with no hard feelings at all.
Later that same day and for the next couple of days, TEN new people showed up for their business services!
It helps to be on a team with people who know how to use positive energy. Why? Because we’re used to our patterns and may not recognize which ones hold us back.
The energy you emanate and surround yourself with is real and impacts your finances, relationships, health and happiness.
You receive more of where your attention goes. It doesn’t matter if you like something or not. Whatever you energize with your focus will produce more of the same.
Like rabbits that reproduce quickly and prolifically, whatever you complain, get angry or talk about will multiply. If you feel sorry for yourself either in your head or whine about with others, you’ll get more of the same.
The blame game isn’t your ticket out, either, including blaming yourself!
Understand cause and effect. When you talk about something, you get more of it.
You control your destiny. You have the power to change your habit of thinking and feeling to create the life of your dreams.
The negatives in your life won’t change because you don’t like them but because you don’t energize them with your attention.
Instead, focus on what you choose. Give yourself time. It takes practice.
Then allow the Source of all to arrange life on your behalf… without worrying or trying to figure things out.
Be open to the miracles that follow.
With gratitude,
Virginia

When I was a little girl, I asked my mother what should I be. I wanted her answer to be about my future profession, like a butcher, a baker or candlestick maker.
She always replied that she wanted me to be happy, which seemed at the time a lame response.
The older I get and the more I know about life, though, I realize what a wise answer it was.
Why being happy matters
As like attracts like, the more we’re happy, the more happy experiences we’ll attract.
Feeling good allows us not only to achieve our goals but continue to manifest more.
We can be rich, powerful, famous and living the dream, but if we’re not happy, well, life isn’t much fun. Living in stress, worry, fear, sadness or struggle can destroy our physical, financial, mental and emotional health and well-being.
Happiness doesn’t come because we have everything we want; we won’t enjoy them and may find that they slip away if we don’t feel good.
Stress, anxiety and worry are only habits that don’t serve you or anyone else.
Feeling afraid because of lack of money, love or health won’t change when you have everything money can and can’t buy. If these ways of thinking are habitual, you’d find something to get you bent out of shape.
Ever notice people (maybe you) who always have a reason to complain or feel bad? Even when things are great, they find something that’s not good enough.
Be happy. Find a silver lining no matter what.
You might be thinking that I don’t understand. You’ve got a lot of problems. You’ve been done wrong. You’ve experienced loss, and you’re afraid the proverbial other shoe might fall. You’ve been living in pain. You’ve had the worse things happen to you.
I really do get it because when everything in my life was falling apart, I knew I’d lose it all if I stepped onto the slippery slope of fear. My negativity would have made things go from bad to worse.
So I made a decision to feel good. To feel good in spite of it all.
Step at a time, sometimes baby steps, my life got better and better and better.
The BEST New Year’s resolution is to resolve to feel good. With this decision all things or something better are possible.
It really is a choice.
You have complete control over your perspective, regardless of the situation. Your interpretation of events, your life, your success or manifesting your dreams is your key to the door of happiness, misery or getting what you most want.
Your energy will draw to you more of how you feel.
How in the world can you feel good in spite of the odds? Be grateful.
A client gifted me a handmade journal with an embroidered peacock on the cover that she bought in one of my favorite museums. It’s so beautiful that I decided I only wanted beautiful words in it. Another client on her team suggested a journaling exercise that makes her feel good.
Write what’s working in your life.
Soon after, on a day when everything was uncharacteristically out-of-synch, I couldn’t leave town to go to a party for me! Instead of having a hissy fit, I grabbed my new journal and wrote on the entire first page the many things that are going well.
Focusing on gratitude shifted my energy, allowed me to let go of the stress and be in present time. Of course, the change in plans turned out to be way better.
HAPPY New Year to you.
Hint: the clue is in the greeting. The first word is HAPPY.
The BEST New Year’s resolution is to feel good and be happy.
You can use feeling good as your inner GPS to know if you’re on the right track or not. It may be that the only thing needed for you to be happy is an attitude adjustment. Also, how you feel can be an indicator that you’re on the right path or heading in a direction that no longer serves you or maybe never did.
If you decide a change is needed, feel good about where you are, even if you don’t like it. Then line up your energy by feeling good about your new direction and take actions for something better.
Happy New Year! It’s your choice to parrot the words or make them come true for you!
May you enjoy your happiest year ever!
