Is There a Happy Ending? YES!

February 27, 2023

Monkeys are captured when their hands get stuck in a jar, and they won’t let go of a peanut, banana or termites. Something they want.

At times, you have to let go of something you want in order to free yourself from being trapped. In this photo, what means more? Money or freedom?

Things don’t always work as expected. But change always makes way for something better, regardless of how it appears.

Your income, love, support, health and results don’t come from only one source, one person, one diagnosis or one deal.

God, the Divine, the universe, whatever you choose to call it, is your supply. God is never lost and has infinite possibilities for you.

Therefore, if something doesn’t work, new ways can be found.

Maybe your change is what it took for you to let go and allow new possibilities to occur.

Sometimes you have to let go to free yourself.

Consider the monkey who grasps something in a jar but can’t remove it. The neck of the jar is so narrow that it has to release its grip to get its hand out. But it won’t let go; it just pulls and pulls and pulls. It wants those tasties. Otherwise fast, agile and difficult to catch, this is how hunters and farmers sneak up behind them and trap monkeys.

Because they wouldn’t let go, they lost their freedom.

You’ll get results: your expectation, goal or something better. However, you may need to change your perspective or approach. You may need to let go of your emotional and mental grasp to allow something better to come in.

What you focus on grows. In the past, have you reacted to challenges with anxiety and stress? Instead, enjoy a childlike trust and curiosity. Look for how the universe is assisting you. Consider it a mystery, and you delight in discovering the answer.

Believe there’s a happy ending, and focus on it. Why not believe you can be happy with a happy ending? You probably tried fear and worry, and they don’t produce lasting and fulfilling outcomes.

The happy ending is here for you. Is there something you need to let go of for that freedom to happen?

11 Inspirational Quotes on Success and Your Dreams

August 8, 2022

In the first week of its release in 1988, only one person bought a copy from a local bookseller of the now classic The Alchemist by Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho. One more copy was bought from that same person six months later. After one year, his publisher cancelled Coelho’s contract.

He was 41 and desperate.

However, this living legend never lost faith in his dream or his book, in spite of ingrained beliefs of failure.

“We are told from childhood that everything we want to do is impossible. We grow up with this idea, and as the years accumulate, so too do the layers of prejudice, fear, and guilt. There comes a time when our personal calling is so deeply buried in our soul as to be invisible. But it’s still there.”

Paulo Coelho in introduction to The Alchemist

Despite defeats and his fears, he went from one publisher to the next, and his book was picked up by U.S. publisher HarperCollins.

After a time, President Bill Clinton was photographed with a copy. Julia Roberts commented about The Alchemist during an interview for Vanity Fair magazine. With acclaims from Rush Limbaugh to Will SmithThe Alchemist became a phenomena. The book hit a milestone by being on the New York Times bestseller list for over 300 weeks and is now an international bestseller translated into more than 80 languages.

“A man sets out on a journey, dreaming of a beautiful or magical place, in pursuit of an unknown treasure. At the end of his journey, he realizes the treasure was within him the entire time.”

Paulo Coelho in introduction to The Alchemist

Each year, hundreds of thousands walk the Camino through France, Spain or Portugal. I became enchanted with this quest in another of his international bestsellers The Pilgrimage, a novel that blends adventure with self-mastery.

Regardless if you choose to fulfill your heart’s desire or enjoy better health, a loving relationship, financial prosperity or happiness, may you be inspired to live your dream!

Enjoy these quotes by Paulo Coelho.

“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”

“Don’t give in to your fears. If you do, you won’t be able to talk to your heart.”

“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”

“Don’t waste your time with explanations: people only hear what they want to hear.”

“If you want to be successful, you must respect one rule – Never lie to yourself.”

“When I had nothing to lose, I had everything. When I stopped being who I am, I found myself.”

“There is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it’s because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It’s your mission on earth.”

“One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.”

Are You Living or Existing?

February 14, 2022

Do you jump through hoops to please people?
Do you jump through hoops to please people?

What do you do when someone tries to make you feel uncomfortable about being you or living your dreams?

  • Do you stuff what you feel and toe the line? This may be what you’ve been taught to do from infancy. An underlying fear may be that if you don’t fit in, you won’t survive.
  • If someone says you’re stupid, does the crowd-pleasing clown emerge. Or did you learn to dumb down and hide your brilliance?
  • If the family wants you to follow their traditions, do you do whatever it takes to belong, be loved and not make waves? Even if it means you just get crumbs of love. Even if you’re drowning in what floats their boat.

You’ll never be able to please others enough as they’ll keep changing the hoop they want you to jump through.

Do you desire to live, I mean really live? That includes not living to please other people. Instead, do you make choices that make you feel happy… and do you even know what makes you happy?

Are you not living your truth, what’s in your heart, because you’re afraid of or uncomfortable with possible consequences and what others might think?
Instead, discover what makes you happy, and take time for you, your goals and your life.

If you’re just getting by, living to please others, you’re existing instead of living your best life.

To live more fully, stop giving your power away.

Some ways you can give away your power are:

  • Trying to please others and being worried about what they’ll think. Instead, follow your inner guidance, your heart, your gut.
  • Living in worry and fear. Instead of thinking what’s wrong or what could go wrong, think about what’s right or could go right.
  • Talking about others; blaming and complaining about them. Instead, take responsibility for your actions and life.
  • Feeling sorry for yourself; maybe feeling damaged from your past, regardless of circumstances. Instead, look at but don’t feel disheartened by “what is,” and make new choices and actions.
  • Avoiding situations or not telling the truth. Instead, speak up – at least to yourself!
  • Making excuses, aka reasons, not to live your dreams. Instead, stand up for your passion and take action, even small steps. If it doesn’t work one way, do it another.

Don’t make yourself wrong, feel guilty or have regrets about what you haven’t done or your past. What you learned brought you to where you are today.

Instead, make a decision to make new choices. You are so powerful that when you say, “I choose,” you set forces in motion to redirect your life.

Talk with your soul to discover the best path for you:

  1. Go within and ask your questions.
  2. Listen and write your answers.
  3. Ask for clarity and/or action steps to take.
  4. Take action – consistently.

Take a moment now to breathe and do these four steps.

The Beginning

Don’t Give Up. This CAN Help!

January 24, 2022

Do you have challenges that leave you clueless about what to do? Wouldn’t you rather live life on your terms?

My challenges started to multiply and became too numerous and complicated to solve. I felt disheartened as I trudged through them step-by-step.

How could I get large accounts to pay past due invoices they ignored? What would it take to heal my hip that went out and created a painful limp? How could I complete a frustrating project that left me wishing Scotty would beam me up and free me of my misery? And the list went on.

It was time for an elixir that brings results – a CEO meeting with the Divine. Call it God, the Universe, a Non-Physical Source, Infinite Intelligence, or however you choose to refer to an Energy that surpasses our human understanding.

I wrote my needs and asked God for help. Miraculously, everything that was wearing me out got resolved, most by the next day.

Checks finally arrived; my hip suddenly healed; people stepped up to help me complete my projects; and much more – and I felt great!

Whatever you call this Power, know that the biggest and most savvy CEO of all is available upon request to help you. This CEO supports your success, loves unconditionally, and never sleeps.

Think you need to know someone in order to get ahead? This CEO knows everyone and has the best connections.

  • This CEO knows you are worthy and deserve receiving positive results in divine right timing… regardless of what you’ve done in the past; how you’ve screwed up; how confused or exhausted you are; how inadequate you feel; how much doubt you feel – even if you’re angry with or don’t believe in a divine source – or how big (or hopeless) your problem seems.
  • This CEO invites regular communication and collaboration, so forget about the idea that you don’t want to bother God with the small stuff.

You can worry until the 11th hour before letting go and asking for supreme assistance. But why wait until life gets out of control when an all-knowing, caring, hands-on CEO is on-call 24/7?

Asking for divine intervention welcomes miracles into your life.

Got Problems? God’s seen them all and already knows the way out of any situation. So why not ask for help? You’ve got nothing to lose by working in conscious partnership with the Divine, and everything to gain.

  • Ask and it will be given. That’s called a clue. You have to ask.
  • Believe to receive for the most magical results.

Even people who resist journaling say they look forward to these CEO meetings. You can take your problems to your Divine CEO and receive phenomenal results, too.

TIPS:

  • CEO meetings with the Divine work great even if you feel completely stuck.
  • There’s no right or wrong way to have your CEO meeting with the Divine.  Just talk with your Source.
  • WRITING AND ASKING FOR HELP (instead of only thinking and staying lost in your head) is a HIGHLY EFFECTIVE YET SIMPLE TOOL TO LET GO OF YOUR PROBLEMS AND FEARS.
  • The more you believe this can work and are open to receive, the easier answers come.

Say good-bye to worry and challenges. Invite the best CEO to work with you, on your behalf.

Don’t settle for living in silent desperation.

You can live life on your terms, but don’t take my word for it.

Got challenges? Don’t give up!

Choose to create your world in collaboration with divine flow. Have your CEO meeting with the Divine and find out for yourself.

Got Fear?

October 11, 2021

“Nothing ever happened in the past; it happened in the Now.

Nothing will ever happen in the future; it will happen in the Now.”

Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now

Anxiety and worry reside in many like a low-grade fever that won’t go away. We work, live, and don’t notice it most of the time, but there’s a gnawing in back of the mind that something might happen. It’s a feeling of anticipation, like waiting for the other shoe to fall.

We find countless ways to mask it, such as using power, substances, addictions, sex, control, and anger.

Fear. It’s often fear of the future, the unknown, that somehow, something might happen, and we won’t be able to handle it.

We can never cope with the future. When our mental imaginings run rampant into what danger might be lurking, we incapacitate ourselves.

We can always cope in the now, in this present moment of time. Remember the adage we are only given what we can handle. We always have the ability to make it to the next stage of life.

Always.

“So let me assert my belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself – nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.”

 Franklin D Roosevelt

What else can be done to diminish fear?

If you want yeast to multiply, feed it sugar. If you want fear to grow, feed it fear. If you want to reduce fear, surround what you fear with love.

The aim of terrorists is to create fear and terror. Feeling fear makes them stronger as it’s their food and encourages them to create more terror.

Unconditional love short-circuits them. They become like the Wicked Witch of the West and start to melt. Love cannot ride on the fury of anger.

Thoughts, feelings, and prayers are real and are felt around the world. We have the ability to impact life by living in this moment of time with the spirit of love.  Right now as you read this, you can offer love and goodwill to the Life force and let it be distributed wherever It chooses.

Now, you just made a difference.

That which we fear diminishes and eventually disappears as we wake up to this awareness.

Who do you trust, a Higher Power or fear? Hint: Who do you know is the biggest kid on the block, every block, everywhere, throughout eternity?

Consider wearing your fear like a rub-on tattoo. If you switch your attention to the now rather than worry about an unknown future, the fear washes off. Fill the now with love, and not only is there no room left for fear within you, but that which you fear dwindles.

There’s a wonderful Zen story about a Japanese warrior waiting in prison after capture. The fear of interrogation, torture, and execution overwhelmed him, and he couldn’t sleep. Then he remembered the words of his spiritual master, Tomorrow is not real. It is an illusion. The only reality is now.” He fell peacefully asleep.

Your challenge, if you choose to accept, is to live in the moment with love.

Each time fear rears its head, observe your reaction. Recognize that the fear has nothing to do with this moment in time, and redirect your attention to the now. Breathe. Replace the feelings of fear with gratitude, love, and goodwill to Life.

With a zest for Life,
Virginia

Success Thought

“Focus on what you want. Dwelling on your fears will bring them upon you…

We need to enjoy what we have right now and live right now. Fearing loss is not living in the now. Fearing loss is living in the future.”

You Are NOT Your Thoughts… and yes, you are good enough

August 23, 2021
You can open the window to your thoughts, and think outside YOUR box.

Soulgoal Missive, Year 1, No. 15, originally published in 2001

It was my first singing class. After performing my rendition of a song, my voice coach didn’t comment on my presentation but simply suggested that I approach it using different emotions. Although it was a reasonable request, a sinking feeling came over me and began to take me down with it.

I got through the evening but went home devastated as anguish overtook me far beyond what happened in the class. Three days later I still felt this sickening feeling within and knew that it was totally out of proportion from the event.

Then it hit me.

My (unconscious) interpretation of the comment triggered a belief that when I’m myself, I’m not good enough.

“Why can’t you be more like your cousins Kathy and Sharon?” was one of my mother’s mantras I grew up with — to be good enough I had to be like someone else.

My feelings turned from sadness to freedom as the light shined on this hidden side of me.

The casual remark served as an alarm clock to wake up an old pain after years of sleep. Unconsciously, it directed my actions and responses causing me to feel “I’m not good enough” although there was nothing in the present moment to validate it. After discovering the truth, my life changed.

I hadn’t seen one of my cousins for 18 years, even though she lives just a few hours from me. Yet two weeks after my discovery, I found myself visiting my aunt and her daughter.

Within minutes of our time together, I shared my story with her, and she replied, “Why would you ever want to be like us? The insinuation in our home was that you were special, and we wanted to be like you!”

How often do we create a false sense of reality accompanied by unnecessary limitations and anxiety?

There are so many reasons to experience fear these days, but how many of them are based on reality?

Fear arises from an obscure feeling that something will happen to us in the future that we won’t be able to handle. Then we attach a significance and interpretation that create pain.

The psychological condition of fear is divorced from any concrete and true immediate danger. It comes in many forms: unease, worry, anxiety, nervousness, tension, dread, phobia, and so on. This kind of psychological fear is always of something that might happen, not of something that is happening now.

“You can always cope with the present moment, but you cannot cope with something that is only a mind projection – you cannot cope with the future.”

Eckhart Tolle,
Power of Now

What’s the antidote? Get free from allowing your thoughts to rule and instead be the master of what you think and feel.

How do we reclaim our dominion? Focus on the Now instead of some imagined future.

Truly be present and live in this moment in time. This means not obsessing over what happened in the past and not projecting in the future some theorized threat. We learn from the past and plan for the future. We are best equipped to deal with life situations when we are fully present.

Life is what it is. “Resistance is futile” and creates more pain.

We always have the ability to deal with whatever hand we are dealt, although as Mother Teresa said, “I know God won’t give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish He didn’t trust me so much.”

Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to disidentify with your thoughts, as if they are you and always the truth.  Instead, be the observer of them. Experiment with the following exercise entitled “You Are NOT Your Thoughts.”

  1. Do you imagine that your future will be better or worse than it is now?
  2. Observe yourself focusing your attention into the future. Now shift your attention back to reading in this moment. Notice your ability to shift consciously between the future and present.
  3. The part of you that observes this shift is the real you. You can detach from your identification with your thinking at any moment by going into the observer state – the real you is doing the watching. You experience the real you only in the present moment.
  4. Whenever fear, anxiety, or other such emotion arises, switch to being the watcher of your thoughts and feelings. Even if you still feel trapped by them or feel stuck, you are on your road to freedom, gaining greater self-mastery with every step.

Observation of your thoughts breaks identification with them. You take control of your life instead of being led by fear and limitation. It’s a powerful tool.

With a zest for Life,

Virginia

Angry? Frustrated? You’re Not Alone.

July 19, 2021

Here’s an excerpt of an email I sent a client who’s been experiencing challenges.

Recently, I’ve observed people transitioning from the way their life has been to something new and different. That can bring up a variety of feelings, some pleasant and others not so much.

I remember thinking in the early 1990s that my entire life was about frustration. There wasn’t any part of it that worked, from health, finances and career to my marriage. All were falling apart. This perfect storm became the springboard that has shaped the rest of my life of personal discovery and helping people like you.

Change is in the air, welcoming it, liking it, wanting it or not.

For some, it’s an exciting adventure.

For others, a dark cloud hangs overhead.

You, like the rest of us, have had a lifetime of listening to the false guidance of your ego, that façade of an identity. For you, it includes difficult emotions like anger and frustration. These emotions are like software glitches.

Here’s what Wikipedia says about glitches… computer glitches are incorrectly written software, incorrect instructions given by the operator, undetected invalid data, undetected communications errors…

You are not your software.

In contrast, your Essence is prompting you to listen within. This is the part of you that knows “all is well.”

Abraham-Hicks said:

“Your emotions are your indicator of how your active thought blends, or doesn’t blend, with the thought Source is thinking about the same subject in the same moment.”

The inner turmoil you’re experiencing is the conflict between your ego’s perspective and that of the Source within you.

Naturally, your ego is taking an all out stand for you to listen to its lies, lies that lead you to feel frustrated, angry and needing to sort things out.

To protect itself, it uses a type of logic in which it’s already trained you, indoctrinated into you, so you believe that it’s telling you the truth. It presents its case that leaves you feeling anger and frustration.

The logic only works if you see things from its limited and fearful point of view.

Habitual thinking creates entrenched neural pathways in the brain. These become your default, your easy “go to” ways you react. These reactions, instead of responses, don’t always serve you.

Just because ideas are in your head does NOT make them true!

However, you can most assuredly access your true Essence instead, as it is YOU!

A key is to differentiate between the whispers of your ego and your Essence.

The ego certainly doesn’t want you to be around positive people that shed light on how it manipulates you. This way it has you, back where you can be controlled by the stress and chaos of unsupportive emotions.

In defense of the ego, it thinks it’s protecting you. But these patterns were created from a child’s approach to survival. When presented with adult situations, the peace of your Essence offers greater insight and direction.

Ask your Essence to step forward to be heard, and choose to listen to its guidance.

My 12 Survival Lessons From Challenging Times

March 22, 2021

I’m sharing gifts from one of the most challenging times I’ve ever had. Throughout my life, there were lessons that I stubbornly hadn’t learned, and my experience gave me an opportunity to learn them in a condensed amount of time… or potentially lose everything.

I later recognized that these lessons were a shortcut in preparation for me to do what I love in a bigger way. Without really getting their value, I would’ve stayed where I was and sabotaged my future success.

In 2015, many in my town were hit by a devastating flood that washed away both homes and people. The Blanco River in Texas rose from five feet to nearly 41 feet in just four hours.

I was fortunate not to be affected by this directly. However, the effects of a mold outbreak wreaked havoc with my home, walls, furniture, health and income.

Perhaps what I learned may help you, too.

  1. A positive attitude with fear running underneath doesn’t cut it. I had to live focusing only on what’s working and feels good to me – with no luxury to slip into low energy emotions. Feeling good creates momentum for things to work out for the better. Otherwise, because for a while I could barely think straight or talk coherently (sometimes I could only smile, nod and not speak), I could’ve lost everything while immersed in the haze of mold.
  2. One morning, panic completely enveloped me. Knowing that chewing on and regurgitating my problems was a dead end, I shifted to look for solutions and found them. I had to do this for months, often looking at only the next step at a time.
  3. Through this I really learned how to dump fear, even that which runs in the background like a low-grade fever. That I did this still blows my mind… which is where fear lies. Fear isn’t real; it’s in your head. If there’s a situation to be addressed, fear and worry won’t bring you solutions. Plus, if you’re afraid, you open yourself up to others controlling you for their benefit.
  4. I’d been service-minded, caring more about others and putting their needs before mine. To survive, I had to put me first. Only then could I be any help to others. This was a HUGE lesson that I was forced to get. By the way, if you’ve always put yourself first, your lessons may be the reverse – to see the value of giving. Ultimately, it’s about balance between giving and receiving.
  5. I learned not to care about others’ opinions of me. What others think about me is their issue. I have to do what’s right for me. That released an emotional burden of guilt and second guessing myself. Johnny Depp said it well: “Just keep moving forward and don’t give a s— about what others think. Do what you have to do for you.” Sometimes people want to keep you at their level of mediocrity because they’re afraid you’re outpacing them and might kick them to the curb. Don’t buy into others’ fears.
  6. As I was forced to funnel my energy toward taking care of me (if you’re drowning, you’re not in a position to swim over to help others), I became better at discriminating NOMB – None of My Business – and listened to people instead of coaching them to solve their problems. Not that they wouldn’t have wanted help. I didn’t have the energy to give myself away and not have enough left for myself.
  7. I finally valued my feelings so much that I no longer allowed myself to be around negatively directed energy, mine or others, even when people didn’t realize what they were doing. This included trusted coaches who I later realized had drama-based opinions of me going through my challenges. If they didn’t shift, I didn’t judge them. I moved on.
  8. To balance this, creating smooth experiences with others is way, way better. “Watch my manners and use my social skills,” even if I was exhausted, became a mantra.
  9. I stopped trying to explain or defend myself so people would understand where I was coming from. Many were so locked into their viewpoint that they weren’t able to hear what I was saying anyway. I also learned (the hard way) not to listen to them once I realized they were rude or dumping their negative opinions on me. They were neither interested nor able to consider another perspective.
  10. Believing things will work out is an essential foundation for them actually to work… then to shift into knowing everything always works out in my favor, regardless of how things appear.
  11. Maintain my dignity even when I didn’t feel I had any because of my circumstances.
  12. I realized that a reason for occasional light headedness and unexplainable fatigue I had for years was a residual of a severe mold experience from 17 years ago. It would sporadically (good word for mold spores) show up. I had prayed for an answer. I got it and got rid of it.

TIP: 12 Survival Lessons from Challenging Times

You’re reading this, so I know you’re alive and therefore have been through challenging times. What did you learn? Maybe hard to see when you’re in the middle of it, but why is this a blessing in disguise?

There’s always a silver lining. You can see it if you look in the right direction.

When you redirect your focus to feeling good, you’ll create miracles and successes beyond your wildest expectations.

Step back and allow yourself to see how your business and life are actually falling into place better than ever.

Change Can Be Messy, Especially in Texas

February 22, 2021

Dear Friend,

Things often fall apart before they come together and can look quite messy in the process… to a new and better way.

I know life looks crazy now, but consider this.

If there’s an infected wound, it must be cleaned first before it can heal properly.

There is a silver lining to our current time of changes, from a virus that quarantined the world to a damaged economy and an overworked energy grid.

Time will reveal more of what that lining looks like after a much needed, overdue cleaning.

The clarion call to respect life is finally being heard. What’s a life worth? Let’s put things in perspective.

  • Respect life of those who are more susceptible to a virus or reopen an economy? Do older lives matter? I watched the Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick say, in essence, that older people should be willing to give up their lives for the sake of the young people’s future economy.
  • I read about a college student who was saddened because of COVID-19. He couldn’t graduate or get a job and had to live with his parents. I thought about the movie I’d seen, 1917, when men his age were getting blown apart in WWI. Not for months, but for over four years.

The process of change and healing often is messy.

Have you ever cleaned a room, or anything, and partway through the process found it looked even messier than when you began? Stuff got moved around, some piled up to be discarded. But then a reorganization shifted the environment to something better.

Some Texans have experienced extreme hardships because of an Arctic blast that left many without power and water. Homes are left flooded. Broken pipes. Broken dreams.

However, although it’s often difficult to see while in the midst of challenges and as many are licking their wounds, somewhere, somehow, this will bring us to better days.

Priorities change. I’ve observed, for example, how many people are taking care of each other more, and there’s a greater sense of community.

If some don’t shift away from thinking about themselves first, they have an opportunity to learn some harsh lessons. This includes politicians.

Things that annoyed us before take a back seat to current needs during stressful times.

Years ago I was in a business transition, and I was worried to tears because I didn’t know what to do. My marketing pipeline of how clients came to me finished months earlier, and I felt emotionally and financially vulnerable, distraught and directionless.

Then a FEMA-level flood came to my town. I ended up with mold in my house and me for six months. This was followed by six months of sleepless nights because of caretaking my sick cat whose weight dropped from 14 1/2# to 4 1/2# in three weeks because of an untreatable thyroid condition.

I asked a teacher of mine in the first few days of what was to be a difficult, year-long journey, “Why did this happen? What was this about?”

The reply I received was something on the lines of, “You stopped worrying about money.”

I used to have fear running in the background like a software program in a computer that’s always on.

By the end of that year, I learned to let go of fear and worry. They only add to problems and don’t help anything. Amongst other things I learned is to trust that it all works out. Now it’s part of what I coach, and it’s made me a better teacher.

Remember that all of us have things to learn personally and collectively during challenging times.

In addition to people reaching out to each other, could there be other silver linings from the effects of the Texas Arctic blast?

With deep respect for the suffering of my fellow Texans, this event may provide a turning point in the way some Americans consider how we generate energy. While the United States is about to embark on addressing our infrastructure and climate change policies, perhaps more people will be open to alternative energy sources.

What are you learning?

With gratitude,

Virginia

The BEST New Year’s Resolution

December 28, 2020

When I was a little girl, I asked my mother what should I be. I wanted her answer to be about my future profession, like a butcher, a baker or candlestick maker.

She always replied that she wanted me to be happy, which seemed at the time a lame response.

The older I get and the more I know about life, though, I realize what a wise answer it was.

Why being happy matters

As like attracts like, the more we’re happy, the more happy experiences we’ll attract.

Feeling good allows us not only to achieve our goals but to create a better life.

We can be rich, powerful, famous and living the dream, but if we’re not happy, well, life isn’t much fun. Living in stress, worry, fear, sadness or struggle can destroy our physical, financial, mental and emotional health and well-being.

Happiness doesn’t come because we have everything we want; we won’t enjoy them and may find that they slip away if we don’t feel good.

Stress, anxiety and worry are only habits that don’t serve you or anyone else.

Feeling afraid because of lack of money, love or health won’t change when you have everything money can and can’t buy. If these ways of thinking are habitual, you’d find something to get you bent out of shape.

Ever notice people (maybe you) who always have a reason to complain or feel bad? Even when things are great, they find something that’s not good enough.

Be happy. Find a silver lining no matter what.

You might be thinking that I don’t understand. You’ve got a lot of problems. You’ve been done wrong. You’ve experienced loss, and you’re afraid the proverbial other shoe might fall. You’ve been living in pain. You’ve had terrible things happen to you.

I really do get it because when everything in my life was falling apart, I knew I’d lose it all if I stepped onto the slippery slope of fear. My negativity would have made things go from bad to worse.

So I made a decision to feel good. To feel good in spite of it all.

Step at a time, sometimes baby steps, my life got better and better and better.

The BEST New Year’s resolution is to resolve to feel good. With this decision all things or something better are possible. It really is a choice.

You have complete control over your perspective, regardless of the situation. Your interpretation of events, your life, your success or manifesting your dreams is your key to the door of happiness, misery or getting what you most want.

Your energy will draw to you more of how you feel.

How in the world can you feel good in spite of the odds? Be grateful.

A client gifted me a handmade journal with an embroidered peacock on the cover that she bought in one of my favorite museums. It’s so beautiful that I decided I only wanted beautiful words in it. Another client on her team suggested a journaling exercise that makes her feel good.

Write what’s working in your life.

Soon after, on a day when everything was uncharacteristically out-of-synch, I couldn’t leave town to go to a party for me! Instead of having a hissy fit, I grabbed my new journal and wrote on the entire first page the many things that are going well.

Focusing on gratitude shifted my energy, allowed me to let go of the stress and be in present time. Of course, the change in plans turned out to be way better.

HAPPY New Year to you.

Hint: the clue is in the greeting. The first word is HAPPY.

The BEST New Year’s resolution is to feel good and be happy.

You can use feeling good as your inner GPS to know if you’re on the right track or not. It may be that the only thing needed for you to be happy is an attitude adjustment.

Also, how you feel can be an indicator that you’re on the right path or heading in a direction that no longer serves you or maybe never did.

If you decide a change is needed, feel good about where you are, even if you don’t like it. Then line up your energy by feeling good about your new direction and take actions for something better.

Happy New Year! It’s your choice to parrot the words or make them come true for you!

May you enjoy your happiest year ever!
