What Do You Really Think About Yourself?

March 20, 2023

Your thoughts about yourself create your future.

So what have you been telling yourself about you recently?

Stupid, smart, not good enough, grateful?

Is that really what you think about yourself?

If you want more money, which thinking do you believe works best?

  • I really need it, but I don’t think I’ll ever get paid what I’m worth.
  • (In spite of my circumstances) I feel that more money is coming to me.

If you want more of something, feel as if you already have it. You won’t get what you want (or you could be miserable or not hold onto it) if you’re waiting for it to appear before you believe it.

Your thoughts about yourself are just mental concepts. Your thoughts and ideas are only pictures in your mind, and often times they were downloaded into your brain by others.

The tendency is to accept all of your perceptions as real because they’re in your head. However, they’re limiting because more possibilities exist than you can imagine.

“To look upon the appearance of disease will produce the form of disease in your own mind, and ultimately in your body, unless you hold the thought of the truth, which is that there is no disease; it is only an appearance, and the reality is health.

“To look upon the appearances of poverty will produce corresponding forms in your own mind, unless you hold to the truth that there is no poverty; there is only abundance.”

Wallace D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich

What do you think about yourself?

Do you say you want more money but think about yourself as poor, in lack or needy?

Do you say you want greater health but see your body as sick?

How you identify who you believe you are now is writing your script for who you’ll be in the future.

If you focus on your outer circumstances, you’ll repeat them in the future. Focus on what you choose instead.

Don’t be fooled by appearances, and certainly don’t beat yourself up because you feel you’re not good enough. Your current circumstances exist because of old ways that you thought about yourself.

You always have a choice about how you feel and think, even if things seem out of your control.

Imagine what life would be like if you see yourself as the hero of your dreams coming true!

The Quicksand of Fear and Financial Stress… And What to Do So It Doesn’t Pull You Down

January 23, 2023

“When your internal reference point is your spirit, when you are immune to criticism and unfearful of any challenge, you can harness the power of love, and use energy creatively for the experience of affluence and evolution.”

Deepak Chopra, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

Fear was my #1 issue during a personal growth session in 1991. It took us two hours to reveal what the particular fear was: everything! It took me years to recognize the insidious ways fear had molded my life since childhood.

Like attracts like. When the vibration of fear precedes actions, the results reflect that energy. What follows is lack; struggle; failure; disappointment; frustration; worry; anxiety; loss of business; financial hardship; and that dreadful fear of the future – “what if” things don’t work out and I face a fate worse than death?

Especially when I felt justified, being afraid was like adding sugar to yeast – “Just look at my circumstances. Anyone in them would feel this way.” Fear multiplied which attracted more things to be afraid about.

Once when my budget was screaming “ouch,” I feared missing a credit card payment. I knew someone this happened to, and her rates skyrocketed. My negative musings caused me unconsciously to pay my bill from an account where I don’t keep money… and I missed my payment.

My preoccupation with my imagined, financial ruin also had me overlook paying my water bill. I opened the top portion of a letter sent to alert me and set it aside thinking it was next month’s bill. Only minutes after coming home from burying my cat who died suddenly and discovering my water had been turned off did I see it was a disconnect notice.

I had the money, but I was so consumed with fearing future financial disasters that I created them!  As Job said, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”

You may have been pulled into the quicksand of fear. Once you start sliding down its slippery slope, every frantic breath has you descend into it more deeply.

My successes occurred when I let go of fear.

What is quicksand, and how does it work?

Quicksand is just a soupy mix of water trapped in ordinary sand that can’t escape, a liquefied soil that can’t support weight. It can occur almost anywhere if the right conditions are present. Contrary to being the frightening, bottomless pit portrayed in the movies, it rarely is deeper than a few feet.

Stepping into quicksand will not swallow you whole or suck you under, but thrashing about will force you deeper into it.
The more you struggle, the faster you sink.

Most people who drown in quicksand or in any liquid are those who panic and start flailing their arms and legs. However, it’s easier to break free of it than you may think.

To escape you have to stop fighting. Breathe. The key is not to panic.

The way out is to relax and make slow movements back to the surface.

Because your body is less dense than the quicksand, your body will float to the surface if you let go of the struggle and relax.

In fact, it’s easier to float on quicksand than on water. Once afloat, you can find your way back to safety.

Hmm, so similar to fear – how we drown in it and how we can escape its murky mud.

Are You Jumping to the Right Conclusion?

October 17, 2022
…or are you looking at shadows of the truth?

After sitting through a couple of traffic lights behind a car that wouldn’t budge, my friend got very annoyed.

He thought, what’s wrong with these people along with several choice expletives.

Finally, he angrily swerved around to get in the lane next to them. In the car was a man and a child in the passenger seat.

As my friend turned to the driver to give him a piece of his mind, the man asked, “Which way to the hospital? I have to take my child to the hospital, and I don’t know if I need to turn right or left.”

With this new information and perspective, his annoyance instantly left. He became fully engaged in helping.

Recently, a woman explained how she was quite bothered by something I’d said. She felt upset for months, since we had our last conversation. When we finally talked again, she told me that she didn’t know how I could’ve said such a thing and made analogies all pointing to why she should be indignant.

She assumed the story she was telling herself was correct, and therefore she was justifiably angry with me.  She saw the story through her filter, and therefore she felt she had good reason to feel upset with me!

A couple of minutes into her explanation, when I realized she had totally misinterpreted the point I was making, I clarified what I had said. Very quickly, the story and irritation at me that she’d been holding onto for so long evaporated.

I suggested that, in the future, she talk with me if she had an issue rather than jump to conclusions.

Do you find yourself upset about something and jumping to conclusions? Take a step back and observe. Is this a one-time or ongoing occurrence? Might there be a different way of connecting the dots? There may be a different way of handling this.

Perhaps there’s a lesson for you to learn. Maybe there’s a different story you can tell about it and discover a new conclusion.

Are you using or misusing your imagination?

Are You Satisfied or Just Settling?

October 2, 2022

What you want and what inspires you to feel happy changes over time.

Your focus as a baby is different from when you’re a young adult ready to launch a new phase of this human adventure, and it varies at every stage of you being alive.

Likewise, what satisfies you shapeshifts.

Perhaps you are on or have had a financially safe and profitable career path, and you keep telling yourself that you should be happy. However, if you’re honest with yourself, it may be unfulfilling and you want more — something different, more meaningful with more money, more time and more fun.

Maybe you’re unsatisfied and are ready to make a change, but you believe it’s too impractical, you’re too old in today’s market to do something different, you don’t have the time it takes to make a change or you don’t know what else you’d do that will pay you enough.

So you settle.

Once I met a man at a party who had to close his business a couple of years prior to our conversation.

He was an adamant advocate of his limited beliefs: It was too late to start anything else. It took him twenty years to build his old business, and it would take that long to do it again. That’s a fact. Period. There was no other way of looking at it.

He couldn’t see that maybe, in his re-creation of his next step, it could be easier and success could come faster. His adamant view was that this was impossible.

He was fixated, stuck and limited in his vision that the only way things could be done is how they were done in the past. He had absolutely shut down his imagination. He was depressed. End of story!

I remembered the saying, don’t try to teach a pig how to fly. First, pigs can’t fly. Second, you just irritate the pig.

Mind you, he wasn’t a pig. But I could see that he got irritated thinking beyond his self-imposed doom.

Although he appeared to be a nice man, he was one of the unhappiest and most negative people I’ve ever met.

While there are simple steps to clarify and align yourself with what you really, really want, the soul of your goal, here’s something that may help you to start. This is from my Soulgoals’ program:

Clear and conscious intentions create a blueprint of what you choose. They replace unconscious pictures you carry from limited, default programming.

You attract what you energize with clarity and feeling.

Your brain may not be able to fathom how your goals can occur. However, if your intention is in alignment with the soul of your goal, miracles happen.

You don’t have to settle! You can go beyond trying to find yourself, a better life, career or business and actually do it. You can be satisfied by consciously creating your ideal life or something better!

Unblock Your MONEY Flow (Well, Love, Health and Happiness, too)

July 18, 2022

Have you ever wondered why you don’t have more money? Actually, you could ask the same question about love, health, happiness or anything.

Maybe you realized there’s something you can do to change this… but how? Why are you blocked?

Before going any further, set an intention that by reading the words of the teachers found below, you’ll discover insights to unravel your mystery.

Awareness is the first step. Then, it’s up to you to find the next steps of how to let go of what no longer serves you.

As Jim Rohn said,

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find excuses.”

Often, it helps to have expert support to gain clarity and release old patterns. If you’re tired of going in circles on your hamster wheel of limitation, I invite you to experience a complimentary Soulgoals’ Break-Free Session.

Furthermore, consider this quote by Joe Vitale of The Secret:

“Be around people who can keep your energy and inspiration high. While you can make progress alone, it’s so much easier when you have support.”

To find out how you can receive support in a free session, contact me at virginia@soulgoals.com

With gratitude,

Virginia

ABRAHAM-HICKS

“Most people have put anything that earns money in the category of the things that I HAVE to do. And that is why the money often comes so hard.”

MY NOTE: Break the habit of saying that you “want” something or you “have to” have or have to do something. Instead, substitute the word “choose.” By doing this, you tap into a higher and more empowered energy within you to attract more money or achieve any goal.

Test the difference now by using these words. Think of something you desire. Put it in a sentence by using a variety of words, found in the example below.

  • I want more money. (This is pretty weak and generic. Not a strong statement.)
  • I gotta have more money. (Sounds a bit desperate with underlying energy to match.)
  • I have to have more money. (Feels like you could add “or else all is lost” – desperate again.)
  • I choose to have more money. (Can you feel how this is more empowering?)

Create a new habit of stopping yourself, even mid-sentence, of speaking words in a conscious way. By doing this you’re reprogramming your brain.

When you tune into this energy more and more, you’ll naturally stop your language of limitation and replace it with those that manifest results. Be vigilant with your words because they reflect your thoughts and feelings and thereby create your reality. Wonder why you don’t quite get what you want sometimes? Learn how to recognize and change the words you speak.

JOE VITALE

“What can you do right now to begin to turn your life around? The very first thing is to start making a list of the things you are grateful for.”

“Leave your excuses behind, and you will begin to attract wealth.”

“Remember that: Money will always match your mindset.”

“Your part in the co-creation process to attract more money in your life is to act on the ideas that are coming to you.”

SANAYA ROMAN

“If you are in a calm or flat state, where money is coming in and going out in equal amounts or there isn’t any movement, look at where your own energy might not be moving. You want both money and your personal energy to flow. By unblocking your energy, you can create more money in your life. Blocks in money can be caused by places where your energy isn’t flowing, such as in your physical body, your emotions, or your relationships with other people… Observe your life for a while and ask your higher self to show you where your energy needs to flow more… When you observe an area that feels blocked you can ask, ‘What specific action can I take to create more flow in this area?’” It need not be a major act; it can be simple… One area in which you are not happy with may affect every other area of your life.”

Creating Money, Keys to Abundance

JULIA CAMERON

“So much of our mythology around money centers on the illusion that if we had ‘more,’ we would be more comfortable and more able to access our creativity. But creativity and prosperity are spiritual matters, not fiscal ones.

JIM ROHN

“Money is usually attracted, not pursued.”

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find excuses.”

Can You Create Miracles?  Do You Need One?

April 25, 2022

Believe in MIRACLES

Your life has always been blessed with miracles. The near miss from having an accident. A smile from a stranger, an email or a phone call when you felt down and on your way out. Things turned around in your favor. You miraculously manifested a goal against all odds.

When I got out of the way and allowed life to use its natural power, aka miracles, things worked out. Often in unexpected ways. Beyond what I could figure out with my best thinking.

When they didn’t work is when I put a kibosh on things because of doing things like these:

  • fretted by wondering if enough people would attend an event.
  • I worried if I’d have enough money for something.
  • I felt discouraged and frustrated things might not work the way I thought they should.

Therefore, I manifested what I focused on – what I didn’t want. Worry doesn’t pay – especially the bills. In fact, worry blocks money coming to you because focusing on lack of money continues to attract lack of money.

Why? Money is energy. If you focus your energy on lack of something, you’ll attract more lack, regardless of what you claim you want.

Things to Know about Creating Miraculous Manifestations:

 • There are no limits or quotas on how many you can have.
• You don’t have to earn them; miracles are your birthright.
• Relax and be open to them. Let go and let God.
• Miracles appear in divine right timing. It’s a collaboration between your Essence and Creator as to when they show up.
• Choose to believe in and recognize miracles when they’re gifted to you; it refocuses you to receive more. Be grateful and count your blessings.
• While waiting for “big” ones, you may miss the small ones. Actually, they’re all big.

Life is always given according to your belief. Believe in possibilities manifesting beyond what you can mentally conceive.

We have been MISEDUCATED in believing there’s something wrong with us; we don’t deserve happiness or success; worry, fear and suffering are natural; and many more erroneous, self-defeating, negative messages.

Choose to live a miraculous life, and it’s yours. Well, your life is always miraculous. It’s easier and more fun, though, when you recognize the miracles.

5 Helpful Tips to Manifest Results:

1. Refocus your attention by making a list of your miracles and successes you’ve already had.
2. Breathe and relax.
3. Set an intention to receive your goals and intentions, what you choose for your life.
4. Choose to be in divine flow and open to receive.
5. Take action.

For those who may feel it’s sacrilegious or presumptuous to think that little ole you has the ability to create miracles in your life, here’s a quote from the Bible, Matthew 17:20

“If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you may say to this mountain, ‘Move from here’, and it will move, and nothing will be difficult for you”.

Consider that it’s your spiritual destiny to practice faith, even a tiny amount like the size of a mustard seed, instead of keeping yourself small or being afraid to truly tap into your own greatness.

Focus on what you’re grateful for, and you’ll multiply your reasons to be grateful.

What miracles have you had? Do you need one? What do you choose to manifest now?

Begin by believing just a little bit more and taking action. The rest is easy.

Escaping Financial Collapse

April 18, 2022

Be like a powerful river going around obstacles,

A woman came to me on the verge of closing the doors of her office and working from home instead. The economy had taken its toll on a once thriving business, and fear had taken its toll on her spirit.

Recently she shared a story that demonstrates her attitude that turned her business around.

Her company had been courting a prospective client. Although they liked her and what her company brought to the table, in the end, they didn’t want to leave their current, long-time vendor.

The staff grumbled about it for a few minutes and then returned to work. As she sat at her desk, she shook her head and said to herself:

“OK. We’re obviously not supposed to have this contract. I’m letting it go, and something better will come.” This was a departure from her old attitude of worry, fear and images of doom that would have consumed her.

As she clicked the Send and Receive button, an email appeared offering a contract which is now bringing her company three times more profit than the one that turned her down! Although only 1 ½ months into the year, her company surpassed her $250,000 first quarter goal and is bringing in $355,000 with over $150,000 in profits. What a dramatic shift from before when business was at its last gasp of survival.

By the way, her motto this year is Divine flow. Let “stuff” go.

She also learned that God is her supply, not any one person or company. For example, she expected a big client to come through with a contract. She kept waiting and getting frustrated and more desperate.

When she let go of her expectation and opened up to other possibilities, opened up to the idea that her supply comes from a divine source and not from anyone in particular, then business poured in from many directions.

A year later the big client still hasn’t come through, but her business is flourishing. Without the panic and struggle, she was able to float to the surface of the quicksand of chaos, and success greeted her.

It takes practice to choose to trust instead of giving our power to fear.

Being groomed since childhood with the habit of fear, I’ve had a lifetime of observing the sneaky ways it shows up. My life became shipwrecked when I allowed myself to be seduced by its siren calls.

Eventually, it became harder to hold onto anxiety and easier to let go and trust things will work out – regardless of appearances. I decided to give up worry because it just wasn’t working for me. And when I let go, miracles happen.

Where’s the Refresh Button for Your Life?

March 21, 2022

Wish you could redo parts of your life?

  • Have regrets?
  • Feel bad about past choices or what others did?
  • Discouraged, stuck or frustrated about things that haven’t been working?
  • Holding on to beliefs about how you think life, others or you should be?
  • What (or who) have you outgrown?

Do you sometimes wish that a genie would appear and magic wand away your fears, painful memories and thoughts, past actions and choices? If only you knew then what you know now.

Perhaps you only need a change in attitude or perspective.
Another viewpoint can give you insights and direction.
Your next steps of what to do are always accessible.
Listen to your gut feelings and the quiet voice within.
Your answers will be revealed in divine right timing.
Your refresh button is within you.

By the way, don’t think you’ve got to see the big picture and know all the pieces before taking action. You can start where you are and with what you know right now.

You can make change easy on yourself by using these five steps:

  1. Be willing to consider a change. Willingness opens you to possibilities even if you’re not ready to commit to a change. This includes a change in attitude and the way you’ve always done things.
  2. Take consistent action in your new direction. If you were to make a change, what action would you take? Do it. Then tune in to the next step and do that. Step-at-a-time is perfect – no pushing or rushing.
  3. Get support from a friend or coach. Discussing possibilities and being heard can be powerful steps to clarity, action and change. Don’t listen to the naysayers, including that negative voice in your head.
  4. Choose that the change and lessons learned be gentle. If you believe change is hard, it is. There are people who remain positive in the face of disaster. Set an intention to make changes with ease and grace.
  5. Breathe your way through it. Breathing deeply in a relaxed way puts you in divine flow instead of the flow of fear.

You can hit the refresh button of your life, and it will refresh if you are open to receive! How? Choose it.

Does this sound ridiculous? Impossible? Although it may seem farfetched at the moment that you making a choice could do anything, consider that you are that powerful! When you choose from your very Essence, not your doubting, weak, negative ego, so-called miracles can occur!

Experiment. Take a breath. Ask for… whatever you choose. Answers come in divine right timing.

Here’s a key. Open yourself to receive. If you resist that possibility, you close the door.

Give yourself a gift of a new beginning. Refresh your life. You have the power within to create positive changes with ease and grace and no drama.

Confused About What to Do?

March 7, 2022

Once I had a dream where I was in a room with no windows or doors and seemingly no way out.  I searched the walls for a way to leave, but there wasn’t any.

Then I discovered that there was a stairway in the middle of the room that took me to a higher level, and that room was filled with lots of windows, doors and light.

Albert Einstein is paraphrased to have said:

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”

Feeling stuck is an emotional response that can leave you feeling there’s no way out. Instead, you can find a way to untangle yourself from whatever has gotten you balled up and take productive action.

Here are four pointers that can help:

1. You’re frustrated because you’re trying to control the outcome by expecting it (or people) to be or act the way you think it should.

Alternative:  Relax and anticipate this or something better will occur. Stop trying to micromanage the world. This opens you to tune into new ideas and directions.

2. You’re beating yourself up with fear, worry, regrets or other limiting thoughts and emotions because of your situation.

Alternative: Let go of judging yourself, others and your circumstances. Replace it with an empowering perspective that you’re learning, and all is in divine order and timing.

3. You’re focused on what’s not working.

Alternative: Focus on what you choose and the good feeling mojo it creates. Good feeling mojo is what opens you to manifest more quickly and with grace and ease.

4. You’re pushing to make things happen.

Alternative: Stop resisting (and exhausting yourself about) what is and allow things to be the way they are. You getting fussy about it won’t change it or help. Let go. Let God. Set new goals for what you choose. Then take action from this perspective.

There’s a part of you that doesn’t have a clue about what to do. Another part knows!! You have the ability to stop listening to your confusion or asking others what you should do.

Instead, find your answers within.

How? Start to believe in yourself a little bit more. Ask the part of you that knows the answer (it’s there even if you’re oblivious to it) and write about your situation from that perspective. Even if it feels silly or make-believe when you begin.

Journal with an intention to gain clarity; you might surprise yourself with insights.  Give yourself permission to receive answers.

When you shift your perspective, you allow life to create miracles and successes beyond your wildest expectations, and the way out appears… often only one step at a time. Even if the next step is to pause, quiet your thoughts, and just BE.

What to Do When You’re at a Turning Point

August 2, 2021

This Soulgoal Missive was sent to my mailing list in 2002.

Keep your eyes and ears wide open – and your mouth closed, if you wish to acquire the habit of prompt decision.

Napoleon Hill,
Think and Grow Rich

I invited my girlfriend on a company trip I won. Having a choice of select resorts, I chose to be on a ten-ton houseboat on the Colorado River at the Nevada-Arizona border. We were fortunate that the boat malfunctioned immediately after departure, so we traded it in for a five-ton model.

Neither of us knew anything about boating, including how to read a mariner’s map.  All the squiggly lines representing the shoreline looked the same, so the map was no help.

To share how inexperienced we were, our boat floated away because we didn’t anchor it properly while visiting Hoover Dam. Someone caught and secured it in our absence. Our fun and memorable trip was filled with adventures like this.

While steering the boat, I watched aghast as I headed for a solid mass of land straight ahead.  I had to change direction quickly, but I couldn’t tell if the river turned to the right or left because the view was obscured.

The boat was big and heavy. I felt if I didn’t make my decision quickly, I never would have enough time to change course and would surely run into land.

Which way to go? It looked like the river turned left so I turned the boat in that direction. I was wrong; it was just a tiny inlet. If I thought I barely had time to turn the boat before, surely I would crash now. I quickly turned the wheel to go in the other direction… and had plenty of time to make the adjustment.

Over many years I’ve observed if I relax and trust this process, while prepared to act quickly if needed when the appropriate time comes, I make better decisions – without the panic and worry. I learned that if I am alert and in the moment, I have all the time I need to make a decision when the information comes.

Those who reach decisions promptly and definitely, know what they want, and generally get it.

Napoleon Hill,
Think and Grow Rich

Another incident occurred during my first television interview in my early twenties with a man seasoned in appearing on the media. He told me later that before speaking he always felt his inner juices begin to flow, but he didn’t feel them before that show.

However, as soon as I began to answer the commentator’s first question, his energy started to flow. Without this initial incentive to speak and knowing his experience, I probably would have let him do the talking, and he could have taken over the show.

I learnedwhen the time comes, we have what it takes to do what we have to do. The brain may want to be comforted that everything follows an order it thinks it should. However, the flow is there when we need it, not when we think we need it.

We were prepared to speak; after that it was a matter of trusting the process.

A third lesson came while on a road trip with a friend. We came to a fork in the road, a turning point. Rather than stop to determine where we needed to go, he arbitrarily chose a direction and proceeded to go the wrong way at 60 miles an hour. It took a while to escape the highway maze, return to where we started, and get on the right track.

I learned if I come to a fork in the road and don’t know where I’m going, stop and assess my options rather than blindly waste my time on a 50-50 guess.

Decisions. If we’re not attached to the way we want things to go or the way we think they should go, answers come in their own way and in their own time, especially when we are prepared and ready to act.

Lessons I learned:

  1. You have all the time you need to make an appropriate decision when you have the information.
  2. There is a flow to making decisions. When the timing is right the flow is there, and sometimes not a minute sooner.
  3. Be prepared to act quickly when the information comes.
  4. Rather than guessing, check your map or plan to see where you’re going. Take necessary steps to prepare.
  5. Relax and trust the process.

Your challenge, if you choose to accept, is to consider a decision you would like to make. Apply the above points to strategize how to make it and then relax with the process KNOWING that you will make the right decision at the right time.

Success Thought

When he approached a fork in the road, Robert Frost in his poem “The Road Not Taken” wrotethathe “looked down one as far as he could.”  Facing his decision of which way to go, he said:

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.”
