So, DREAM well.

Are You Satisfied or Just Settling?

What you want and what inspires you to feel happy changes over time.

Your focus as a baby is different from when you’re a young adult ready to launch a new phase of this human adventure, and it varies at every stage of you being alive.

Likewise, what satisfies you shapeshifts.

Perhaps you are on or have had a financially safe and profitable career path, and you keep telling yourself that you should be happy. However, if you’re honest with yourself, it may be unfulfilling and you want more — something different, more meaningful with more money, more time and more fun.

Maybe you’re unsatisfied and are ready to make a change, but you believe it’s too impractical, you’re too old in today’s market to do something different, you don’t have the time it takes to make a change or you don’t know what else you’d do that will pay you enough.

So you settle.

Once I met a man at a party who had to close his business a couple of years prior to our conversation.

He was an adamant advocate of his limited beliefs: It was too late to start anything else. It took him twenty years to build his old business, and it would take that long to do it again. That’s a fact. Period. There was no other way of looking at it.

He couldn’t see that maybe, in his re-creation of his next step, it could be easier and success could come faster. His adamant view was that this was impossible.

He was fixated, stuck and limited in his vision that the only way things could be done is how they were done in the past. He had absolutely shut down his imagination. He was depressed. End of story!

I remembered the saying, don’t try to teach a pig how to fly. First, pigs can’t fly. Second, you just irritate the pig.

Mind you, he wasn’t a pig. But I could see that he got irritated thinking beyond his self-imposed doom.

Although he appeared to be a nice man, he was one of the unhappiest and most negative people I’ve ever met.


While there are simple steps to clarify and align yourself with what you really, really want, the soul of your goal, here’s something that may help you to start. This is from my Soulgoals’ program:

Clear and conscious intentions create a blueprint of what you choose. They replace unconscious pictures you carry from limited, default programming.

You attract what you energize with clarity and feeling.

Your brain may not be able to fathom how your goals can occur. However, if your intention is in alignment with the soul of your goal, miracles happen.

You don’t have to settle! You can go beyond trying to find yourself, a better life, career or business and actually do it. You can be satisfied by consciously creating your ideal life or something better!

Overcome Fear Like an Olympian

We’ve been wowed by dreams coming true for Olympian glory. Just ask David Boudia from Abilene, Texas, who won the gold for diving in 2012.

He interviewed with an Indianapolis Star reporter and shared insights about what “separates your cream of the crop Olympians to the ones who don’t make it as far.”

The difference, he said, is understanding and respecting fear.

Initially, anyone would be terrified of diving head first into the water, and Boudia was no exception as a kid.

“I worked hard mentally to approach it so I was able to control my thoughts a little better. To be able to understand how to visualize it and see it in my head.”

He drew stick figures to be able to see his success and overcome his fears.

Let’s consider one way that fear affects the brain.

The striatum is a part of the brain that works like muscle memory. It operates on autopilot – an emotional and mental default program that reacts the same way over and over again.

For example:

  • Do you have a tendency to respond repeatedly to situations with anger and frustration or by seeing the silver lining?
  • Is the glass half empty or half full?
  • Do you think what if things don’t work out or what if they do?
  • Is fear something to be avoided at all cost or befriended?

Your responses comprise some of your automatic programs.

According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, athletes train their amygdala, the memory center of the brain, to make the connection of stress with success, and they don’t even consider failure.

The amygdala is the integrative center for emotions, emotional behavior, and motivation.

To be richly compensated doing what you love involves creating a vortex of energy where you are a magnet of success.

Connecting the dots, when you’ve trained your brain and emotions for success, you can overcome fear and attract your ideal outcomes like an Olympian.

Moving Tribute – Happy Memorial Day!

While you enjoy the liberty to do whatever you choose on Memorial Day – be with friends and family, catch up on your to do list, have fun, work, kick back and do nothing – there are those who risked their lives so we can enjoy these freedoms.

Memorial Day is a time to recognize what others have given in service for us to live in a democracy in the U.S.A. Although imperfect at times (well, lots of times), we are on a quest to create what the Preamble to the Constitution calls “a more perfect union.”

The Preamble is a short, introductory statement of the Constitution’s fundamental purposes and guiding principles. It posits what the Founding Fathers’ intentions were regarding the Constitution’s meaning and what they hoped it would achieve:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Recently, I learned that each year on Memorial Day, a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 PM local time.

As you go about your life, take a moment to give a sacred nod of appreciation to those who cared enough about us and this ideal of democracy to serve their country.

Do You Doubt Yourself?

A mastermind team did an exercise that included prioritizing personal and professional goals, identifying obstacles, followed by strategies to overcome each one. If there was a roadblock, what could they do about it?

Procrastination was a big obstacle. Many delays were due to questioning themselves.

** Are they capable?
** Are they good enough?
** Are they doing the right thing?

Avoidance happened when their goals involved new activity and knowledge that differed from how they’d done things in the past. They were growing their businesses in new ways, which meant doing things they’d never done before. The same was true for doing different things in their personal lives.

Venturing into an arena unknown to them brought on self-doubt, which immobilized them from moving forward.

When going outside the known and our comfort zone, when choosing to take ourselves to another level, it’s likely new tools and skills will be needed. This has nothing to do with not being good enough or a reason to be afraid of rejection!

Once we get over our “yes, buts,” “you don’t understand,” “I was told this is the way it is (or I am),” “there’s nothing that can be done” and countless other reasons we try to legitimize why we do things the way we’ve always done, new solutions can appear.

The answers to get you through any challenges live within you.

You’ll get pointed in a direction, a direct insight will come, you’ll overhear something by chance… or somehow your personal, internal GPS will show you the way.

Pay attention to your inner nudges. They provide clues.

Be open to step back and see things in a new perspective. The seemingly impossible may actually be possible with a different approach.

Niels Bohr, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922, wrote:

“Every great and deep difficulty bears in itself its own solution. It forces us to change our thinking in order to find it.”

Bohr, who contributed to understanding atomic structure and quantum theory, tapped into his creativity to use outside-the-box-thinking, which allowed him to be part of breakthrough discoveries.

Expand your territory. Change your perspective. Open to breakthroughs.

You are more powerful than you think you are.

Believe in yourself… just a little bit more!

Do This ONE Thing for a Great Year

What do you choose to be? How do you choose to feel? It’s a decision.

The BEST New Year’s resolution is to resolve to feel good. With this decision all things or something better are possible.

It really is a choice.

You have complete control over your perspective, regardless of the situation. Your interpretation of events, your life, your success or manifesting your dreams is your key to the door of happiness, misery or getting what you most want.

Your energy will draw to you more of how you feel.

How in the world can you feel good in spite of the odds?
Be grateful for what you DO have.


A client gifted me a handmade journal with an embroidered peacock on the cover that she bought in one of my favorite museums. It’s so beautiful that I decided I only wanted beautiful words in it. Another client on her team suggested a journaling exercise that makes her feel good.

Write what’s working in your life.

Soon after, on a day when everything was uncharacteristically out-of-synch, I couldn’t leave town to go to my own birthday party!  Instead of having a hissy fit, I grabbed my new journal and wrote on the entire first page the many things that are going well.

Focusing on gratitude shifted my energy, allowed me to let go of the stress and be in present time. Of course, the change in plans turned out to be way better.

HAPPY New Year to you.

Hint: the clue is in the greeting.

The first word is HAPPY.

The BEST New Year’s resolution is to feel good and be happy.

You can use feeling good as your inner GPS to know if you’re on the right track or not.

It may be that the only thing needed for you to be happy is an attitude adjustment. Also, how you feel can be an indicator that you’re on the right path or heading in a direction that no longer serves you or maybe never did.

HUGE TIP: If you decide a change is needed, feel good about where you are, even if you don’t like it. Then line up your energy by feeling good about your new direction and take actions for something better.

Happy New Year! It’s your choice to parrot the words or make them come true for you!

How can you get control of your life? While you’re thinking, let me share a client’s story.

“The thought What am I going to do today? made me dizzy while I was flat in my bed. At that point I knew I had to stay home and not do anything except take care of myself, prioritize, and discover what makes me happy. I realized I wasn’t helping anybody because I needed to help myself. One by one I backed off from activities where I could be replaced and started to focus on what is important to me.”

There are so many demands on our time – family, work, responsibilities, friends, personal care, problem solving and more – that we can get overwhelmed.

Who’s got time to focus on what’s most important to us and our dreams? But then, if we don’t tend to these, we’ll stay where we are. So much to deal with. It can be confusing and exhausting.

Have you seen the apparatus on some sci-fi shows that scatters someone’s image into a dozen different places so the real person can’t be found? That’s what our lives are like when we allow ourselves to overextend into too many activities. We lose ourselves.

Of course, this offers us a great excuse, too, as it’s much easier to jump from one activity to another, adopt a non-productive feeling of being overwhelmed so we can’t think straight, or change from one goal or project to another, than to see them to completion without feeling frazzled.

  • Get clear on what you want 
  • Focus on this as a priority 
  • Decide you’re going to skip feeling overwhelmed

A Very Short Story About My Cat NOT Settling for Crumbs

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. “Which road do I take?” she asked. His response was a question: “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat “it doesn’t matter.”

My cat charged into the house after being outside for hours. There were a couple of teaspoons of broken, dry food left in her dish, but she didn’t approach it. Instead, she regally stood a couple of steps away facing the bowl.

I knew she was hungry, but she didn’t act desperate or whiny. Actually, she didn’t even give an indication she was interested in food.

I told her, “Just eat the little bit that’s left, and I’ll fill your bowl.” I waited.

She remained poised and motionless, like a royal guard in front of Buckingham Palace.

I needed to put more food in the bowl anyway, so I did.  She devoured it.

My cat Micha consistently teaches me non-verbal lessons about living life more powerfully.

To get the point she’s making requires my observing her attitude and approach rather than being arrogant and treating her like she’s “only a cat.”

For example, she doesn’t settle for crumbs, doesn’t eat the few, measly bits that are stale from sitting out too long. She carries an attitude of anticipation that her needs are met, and they are.

When we expect a particular outcome, we may set ourselves up for disappointment if the results aren’t what we imagined.

When we anticipate and believe that life works in our favor, the universe accommodates our intention. We can feel gratitude and appreciation, looking for the blessing rather than focusing on dissatisfaction.
