To Risk, or Not to Risk, that is the Question

December 3, 2019

anais-nin-quote-blossom-copy

No one really likes to change. Well, we say we do, but we only want the so-called bad things to change. We’d like other things to stay just the way they are, thank you very much.

We often want others and situations to change and for us to stay the same.

However, when one part of a system changes, everything is affected. It’s like when the body gets hurt – the right leg may be injured, but the other side of the body compensates.

We often resist change. Call it bad. Likewise, when the “good” changes come, everything shifts. In the process, it can feel uncomfortable.

But when it becomes too painful to stay put and remain tight, we’re willing to risk in ways that we may otherwise have thought too painful.

Oh, why not? If you know you’re going to make a change anyway, put yourself out of your misery or discomfort. Take a risk. Be willing to go for the change. Enjoy blossoming!

TIP: Don’t Labor

September 2, 2019

“If you are having financial difficulties, if you are trying to make ends meet, it means you have not convinced your subconscious mind that you will always have plenty and some to spare. You know men and women who work a few hours a week and make fabulous sums of money. They do not strive or slave hard. Do not believe the story that the only way you can become wealthy is by the sweat of your brow and hard labor. It is not so; the effortless way of life is the best. Do the thing you love to do, and do it for the joy and thrill of it.”

Dr. Joseph Murphy, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, chapter 9

This is a reprint from Labor Day, 2016.

Look up synonyms for labor, and you’ll find words like hard work, drudgery, struggle, toil and exhausting.

Society has trained us to believe that work, work, work, the harder we work, is the way to get ahead.

The idea that work alone will bring you results is a flawed premise.

A man was looking for a job.

He sent out 50 resumes.

However, he told me he didn’t expect to get any replies.

Massive action – yes.

Results – zilch.

Hard work and action aren’t the keys.

Inspired action is.

Soulgoals’ Mastermind Principle #4 is:

I am open to the mastermind energy leading me, and I take action by following through with my inspiration and guidance.

For success, align your energy for results FIRST, and then take action.

Instead of putting your nose to the grindstone (ouch), FEEL GOOD before taking action.

Your TIP for success is FIRST to have fun. Create momentum while feeling good, then take action.

It may take practice to build your Feeling Good muscle. People have told me they think they’re doing something wrong if they’re not struggling, worrying and working hard, because these are such familiar habits.

This principle of not efforting works the opposite of weight lifting.

You build this muscle by letting go of the weight of the world – your problems, politics and pains.

What’s left is your natural state – happy, free, having fun, being fulfilled.

The more you’re aligned with You then, like a magnet, the more opportunities come your way.

The results are being in divine flow and on a magic carpet ride of success.

Experiment. Instead of laboring, enjoy life and what you do. Following, observe what inspiration comes to you and take action on this… not on what you think you should do.

Not only will you receive far greater results, you’ll create an even better life that’s worth living.

10 Inspirational Quotes to Get Rich

July 30, 2018

Wallace Wattles

Wallace D. Wattles (1860-1911), an American, wrote the classic The Science of Getting Rich because he believed becoming wealthy, getting rich, is a science in the same way there’s a system to how arithmetic works. He shared that once this science is understood and implemented, people can become rich.

In 2006 during a Newsweek interview, Rhonda Byrne said that Wattles’ The Science of Getting Rich was her inspiration for her hit film and book The Secret, that demonstrates the Law of Attraction.

Below are quotes from Wallace Wattles.

With gratitude,

Virginia

“The grateful mind is constantly fixated upon the best. Therefore it tends to become the best. It takes the form or character from the best, and will receive the best.”

“You can never become a great man or woman until you have overcome anxiety, worry, and fear. It is impossible for an anxious person, a worried one, or a fearful one to perceive truth; all things are distorted and thrown out of their proper relations by such mental states.”

“The very best thing you can do for the world is to make the most of yourself.”

“You must get rid of the thought of competition. You are to create. Not to compete for what is already created.”

“By thought, the thing you want is brought to you. By action, you receive it.”

“Abandon everything you have outgrown.”

“Talk about the happy times you had in your youth, and forget all the unhappy times.”

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.”

“Nothing that is possible in spirit is impossible in flesh and blood. Nothing that man can think is impossible. Nothing that man can imagine is impossible of realization.”

“You can become what you want to be.”

Feel Overwhelmed with the Clock Ticking?

March 26, 2018

clocks and woman

A mastermind team did an exercise called “Strategy for Success,” which included prioritizing personal and professional goals, identifying obstacles, followed by strategies to overcome each one. If there was a roadblock, what could they do about it?

Procrastination was a big obstacle. Many delays were due to questioning themselves. Are they capable? Are they good enough? Are they doing the right thing?

Avoidance happened when their goals involved new activity and knowledge that differed from how they’d done things in the past. They were growing their businesses in new ways, which meant doing things they’d never done before.

Venturing into an arena unknown to them brought on self-doubt, which immobilized them from moving forward.

One woman, who took on a new-to-her project, didn’t know how to complete it. She simply didn’t have the expertise to finish the job. With deadlines looming, she held herself back from doing a pile of other work, that she easily knows how to do, until she finished her worrisome project.

It turned out that a business associate had already offered, completely free of charge, to help her every step of the way. He also told her point blank that she was fully capable of doing this work on her own once she learned the steps.

All she really needed was help to walk through each step. Then she’d have it.

After she completed his initial instructions, she felt that she should know how to finish it on her own. However, because she had no prior experience with it, there’s no way she could know.

She was stuck because her self-esteem felt jeopardized.

She didn’t want to call him for help because that made her feel there was something wrong with her abilities and herself. That she wasn’t good enough.

So she remained frozen for way too long, which meant she wasn’t receiving income for a stack of work she could do.

By changing her perspective, she was able to see how asking for help had nothing to do with her self-worth, and she was willing to contact him again.

When going outside the known and our comfort zone, when choosing to take ourselves to another level, it’s likely new tools and skills will be needed. This has nothing to do with not being good enough or a reason to be afraid of rejection!

Once we get over our “yes, buts,” “you don’t understand,”  “I was told this is the way it is (or I am),” “there’s nothing that can be done” and countless other reasons we try to legitimize why we do things the way we’ve always done, new solutions can appear.

The answers to get you through any challenge live within you. You’ll either get pointed in a direction, a direct insight will come, you’ll overhear something by chance… somehow your personal GPS will show you the way.

Pay attention to your inner nudges. They provide clues.

Be open to step back and see things in a new perspective. The seemingly impossible may actually be possible with a different approach.

Niels Bohr, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922, wrote this:

“Every great and deep difficulty bears in itself its own solution. It forces us to change our thinking in order to find it.”

Bohr, who contributed to understanding atomic structure and quantum theory, tapped into his creativity to use outside the box thinking, which allowed him to be part of breakthrough discoveries.

Expand your territory. Change your perspective. Open to breakthroughs.

You Don’t Have to Push Yourself Harder

February 12, 2018
do it because you love it

What I’m about to tell you is opposite to what most of us learned is the way to achieve success.

Forget about:

  • No pain, no gain.
  • You have to work hard for what you want.
  • Put your nose to the grindstone.
  • Success requires sacrifice, suffering and struggle.

Beliefs like these often don’t create sustainable results nor do they lead to a happy life. Furthermore, trying hard is exhausting.

When we align our positive energy first and then take inspired action with grace and ease, we can create better outcomes while feeling good, too.

A client, whose career is in the fitness industry, shared how his life is working better.

“I let go of pushing harder. I had the kind of personality to be hard on myself, more disciplined. It left me feeling out of control, especially about things I can’t do anything about.

“I had mind-numbing, self-critiquing all the time. I was looking for approval.

“Now I see how when I’m softer and centered, I’m in control. It’s easier to be in my own skin. People are more at ease around me because I’m more at ease with myself.

“I make choices moment-to-moment instead of worrying about the future and what others think.

“I catch myself a lot quicker instead of having long periods of anxiety. I chart my course by mentally creating my ideal scenario and letting go of the pushing.

“Week by week, this new way of living life is sinking in as I allow myself to go from efforting to grace and ease.

“I’ve reclaimed my natural power and feel myself evolving to my true potential as I achieve my goals.”

There was more joy, confidence and lightness in his voice as well.

You can tap into a zone where you won’t need to push yourself. By getting out of your own way, you can get more done with better results and even go beyond limits.

It starts by shifting from trying to relaxing into a flow of doing what you love.

Olympic athletes center and focus themselves before taking action. The winners go beyond worry and ride the wave of their event – even when changing winds seem to be against them. They’re at the right place at the right time to avoid the hazards.

You can, too.

How Do You Know If You’re on the Right Track?

August 15, 2017

You don’t have to hit bottom before making changes. Instead, there’s a way to read the signs to know when it’s time to go in another direction.

These people were ready to go off the deep end and drown in a pool of their own outrage.

• A businesswoman got upset when she received information that stopped an important deal in its tracks.
• Because her boss has it in for her, another woman wondered if she should leave her job.
• Ready to begin his vacation, a man got angry when he arrived and discovered his property had been trashed.

However, when they noticed their emotions were getting the best of them, each stepped back, observed and course corrected by changing their attitudes.

What was the sign that alerted them to shift?

They didn’t feel good because they were angry, so they knew they were on the wrong track and out-of-alignment with their inner GPS.

________________________________________

A clue that let’s you know if you’re on track or not is how you’re feeling.

________________________________________

What can you do about it? If you’re not happy, release the emotions and be open to take action on new options.

That can take some practice, and it’s an acquired skill.

Yet the faster you notice you’re off track, before momentum runs away to the point of no return, the easier it is to redirect your focus to more empowering perspectives and solutions.

By the way, that’s what each one in the above examples did.

Each discovered great resolutions to their issues. How? They made conscious choices not to let their emotions get the best of them. They pivoted and headed in a new direction.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a new challenge or you’re wondering how the heck your life got to this point; you can choose now to change tracks.

Don’t feel bad and spin your wheels wondering why you’re on a particular track. Just make a decision to change.

No sense in beating yourself up, either, as it doesn’t help.

You’re definitely not alone in needing to change direction. It’s so common, we have lots of way of saying it.

• Get a fresh start
• Begin a new chapter
• Do-over
• Turn this ship around
• Turn a new leaf
• Pivot
• Course correct
• Shift gears

The good news is that you’re alive, so there’s time for a change, even if it’s just your attitude.

Are you on the right track?

Well, are you having fun yet?

Sometimes all it takes is changing the way you see things for the answers to make themselves known.

With gratitude,

Virginia

What Do You Do When You Don’t Get No Respect?

March 7, 2017

They had some things in common, like their job and movies, but for most everything else they were opposites. Along with being very opinionated, his lunch buddy also had a strong, negative streak.

Although he got under his skin, my client felt obliged to eat with his co-worker a few times a week because of shared projects. Plus, he didn’t want to eat alone.

The tipping point, however, was the guy’s bad habit. When with a group of people, he would diss my client in a joking way.

This time he’d had enough. Later, he went to his colleague’s cubicle and politely yet clearly expressed that he didn’t like when he did that.

Results? His co-worker hasn’t been around for lunch. For the longest time, what to do about this situation was a quandary. When he stood up for himself, the issue went away.

Freedom.

Eventually, what’s no longer in alignment changes in one way or another.

While you may want to hold onto the status quo and are willing to tolerate that which is intolerable, life won’t let you stay that way for long. Things will change.

Although it can seem easier to complain silently or to others, to justify your reasons for what’s not working, or to act like a car with a dead battery, the strategy of avoidance ultimately gets you nowhere.

Another client experienced disrespect from family members. Her antidote was different.

Instead of being frustrated while resisting and railing against them, she opted to find peace within and to stop trying to control the uncontrollable.

Results? Because she changed her energy from anger to peace, others began to respond to her differently. One person even apologized for his former, rude behavior.

If you put up with things because you feel you must, the world has a way of making you evolve. Life’s personal growth program includes natural disasters, illnesses, accidents, divorce, getting fired, losses, caretaking, and even children.

You can choose to no longer put up with stuff. This means adopting a new perspective or doing something to change before change finds you.

Both clients took action, and neither was better than the other – one was outer, to say something; one was inner, to be at peace.

“Claim Your Energy,”  a segment from my program Resolved for Results, begins with this:

People and activities influence your energy to go up or down. It’s imperative to be vigilant about how you spend your time and with whom as well as what you allow into your heart, thoughts, and environment.

Why? Because people, beliefs, and activities that suck your life force are energy vampires.

TIP: When you remove what brings you down (or never let it enter in the first place), you raise your energy. In turn, life treats you better because you treat yourself better.

Respect starts with you respecting you.

What do you do when you don’t get no respect?

The immortal Rodney Dangerfield said, “That’s the story of my life.”

You don’t have to make it yours.

“I get no respect at all. When I was a kid, I lost my parents at the beach. I asked a lifeguard to help me find them. He said, ‘I don’t know kid. There are so many places they could hide.'”

Note: Know someone who might like getting more respect? You’re welcome to share this post.

I work with people who choose to share their gifts or business in a BIGGER way but don’t know how, feel stuck or would benefit from new tools or support. I help them ignite their Soul’s goals and be richly compensated doing what they love.

TIP: My Staycation in Mexico

July 19, 2016

IMG_3623
Don’t have time or money to travel? I enjoyed a trip to Mexico minutes from my home and discovered traditions and a rich culture that I never knew existed – especially meaningful in our divisive times.

Guelaguetza is a like a big party of cultural exchange. Indigenous folkloric dances and performances honor the diversity of traditions from eight distinct regions of the Mexican state of Oaxaca.

After two years of planning, this festival was proudly shared for the first time in Austin, Texas.

The audience spontaneously sang beloved songs and stood while they sang the national anthems of the United States and Mexico.

Between a couple of the performances, colorfully costumed women served mezcal, a cousin to tequila, in orange peppers that were the size of jalapeno peppers.

Another first for me, just one sip went down very warm and smooth.

When we finished the drink, we ate the pepper.

Well over 50% of Oaxaca’s population is native indigenous, compared to 20% of Mexico as a whole.

Another way of seeing this, more than half of the people come from distinctly different cultures.

As it was described to me, “these tribes gather annually to celebrate good wishes, goodwill, friendship and love between each other.”

IMG_3643

This photo was taken as the women completed their dance. Each wore a different costume representing her region. Their headdresses represent food they brought to share. Apologies for the fuzzy picture. I thought it better for you to see it rather than not include it because it wasn’t perfect.

“This event celebrates cooperation with each other instead of war.

“Our planet is filled with people who are different. Guelaguetza acknowledges and revels in our differences.”

What a gift we’re given in our modern times to witness people who honor their differences through celebration!

Let that sink in a moment.

If other humans on our planet can co-exist, respect and honor differences, so can we.

We don’t have to be afraid of people who aren’t like us.

What if we had conversations that opened us to each other’s uniqueness?

Think what this can mean in your business and life.

Instead of feeling anxious because you don’t know somebody and don’t know what to expect because they might be different than you, enjoy the contrast.

What are your chances of creating a better business or personal relationship if you approach people in the spirit of appreciating their uniqueness?

Here’s an example of this giving spirit before the event began.

My friends and I arrived early, and I ordered a Oaxacan specialty dish from a food trailer.

Although there was no line when I ordered, it took 15 minutes to receive my food.

When my friend inquired about the delay, she reacted uncharacteristically with a disapproving tone.

I received my food and found a place in the shade to eat it.

But where were my friends?

I watched an ever growing line of people waiting for food.

When my friend saw that the guy was working by himself because he wasn’t expecting a crowd, she felt she needed to help him.

He didn’t look at the long line of people standing in the direct sun of over 100 degree heat; he wanted to cook.

But he couldn’t do it all by himself.

IMG_3620

It was taking 15 minutes per person to receive food as people waited in the hot sun.

She didn’t ask if he wanted help as she went into the little trailer.

She told the overwhelmed, young man that she’d take orders, and he could focus on cooking.

For the next two hours, she worked in the “sauna” taking orders and managing the kitchen as family members came to help.

Her older brother stood by the side door. Instead of going to watch the performances, he cheerily said he was standing there to be entertained.

Actually, he was watching out for his sister and smoothing the emotions of the customers who questioned the wait time.

Later, when I asked why she did it, she replied.

“I had a feeling that someone had to help him. When you’re some place, there’s a reason. I felt in the moment, I need to help him. And, I enjoyed the experience of taking orders.”

She refused any payment and accepted some soda and water for us.

We had lots of laughs about it later, and no one even hinted at a word or sentiment of complaint.

Your TIP is to take inspired action by doing something you feel guided to do. Be open to allow your inner spirit to lead you… not because of duty or what you think you should do.

Let’s take it another step.

When you take action have a feeling of goodwill and appreciation in your heart.

Imagine how powerful, productive, compassionate and loving your business and personal interactions can be.

Do this often enough and you’ll feel so great that your life can be as if you’re on a perpetual vacation.

TIP: How I Manifested Tax Money & New Car

March 29, 2016

Easy Button.jpg

April 15 is fast approaching with looming tax deadlines. I thought you might like reassurance that all is well, or can be, with your financials. It’s time to press the easy button.

So, I’m resurrecting segments of some of my popular, archived blogs to remind you of your ability to manifest what you choose – if you allow yourself to stop worrying, let go of struggling, and remember your true worth…

Contrary to my logical thinking, I manifested money to pay taxes and buy a brand new car. All this was done without worrying – or, more accurately, because I didn’t worry.

Conclusion? Don’t stress. Manifest.

Feeling dissatisfied or frustrated while wanting life to be different focuses you in the wrong direction.

Taking action on possibilities with belief attracts results.

Want proof? Here’s how I manifested my:

Money to Pay Taxes: I needed $$ in five weeks to pay taxes. One of many strategies was to ask a client to pay me three months in advance. Before I finished my proposal during a lunch meeting, he cut me off by saying, “I’ll pay you a year in advance.” By the way, it was the first time I’d seen him in person in three years.

During our meeting, I showed him educational tapes I thought he’d like, valued at $50. One of them I picked up from the mailman while in my car as I backed out of the driveway to meet him. My client gave me a $100 bill on the spot so he could listen to them right away.

How?  I followed through on ideas that popped in my head by taking action. An attitude of “success is the only option” focused my intention which produced results beyond what I anticipated.

Car: While focusing on money for taxes, I explored ways to save. Interest on my car loan was nearly 14%. When I looked into refinancing at a dealership, I learned I could get a new car, if I qualified, for 1.9% interest. I told them that I didn’t need the car and would buy only if I got that interest rate. I was approved, and my car payment was only $1 a month more. They took my car as a trade-in and later refunded me $1,000 for its warranty.

There was, however, only one thing they required – an additional $100. I handed them the Ben Franklin my client gave me for the tapes an hour earlier and drove away in my brand new car.

How? I followed through with where I was led although buying a new car seemed like a crazy thing to do. (I only meant to lower the interest rate on my car). I felt neither needy nor desperate to get the car.

Why did I even consider spending money to buy a car when my single-minded focus was on bringing in money for taxes?

Because I consciously chose to take action on ideas rather than over-think and pre-judge them.

I made a decision to live by a new mindset. I acted on and said yes to financial opportunities that I would have otherwise said no to, put off or not bothered with.

My new “uncomfortable comfort zone” mindset allowed me to quickly step into unknowns with no procrastination.

It got me thinking. Why worry?

When I got out of the way and allowed life to do its magic, things worked out.

When they didn’t work is when I put a kibosh on things. I fretted by wondering if enough people would attend an event. I worried if I’d have enough money for something. I got discouraged and frustrated that things might not work out the way I thought they should.

Therefore, I manifested what I focused on – what I didn’t want.

Worry doesn’t pay – especially the bills.

TIP: How I Manifested Tax Money & New Car

Your life has always been blessed with miracles. The near miss from having an accident. A smile from a stranger, an email or a phone call when you felt down and on your way out. Things turned around in your favor. You miraculously manifested a goal.

Here are 5 Steps to Manifest Results:

  1. Refocus your attention by making a list of your miracles and successes.
  2. Breathe and relax.
  3. Set an intention to receive what you choose for your life.
  4. Choose to be in divine flow.
  5. Take action.

TIP: Spring Into Action

March 22, 2016

Today is a new day

What would happen if you truly realized your power and focused it? How would your life change?

How great would your relationships and home life be? Your business and finances? Your health and vitality? How much better would you feel?

What would more insight, balance and innate intelligence do?

You send out energy and a universal force matches it – you see the results in your world. Life isn’t arbitrary. It’s the effect of your clarity, thoughts, beliefs and feelings.

Spring is in the air regardless of what the weather’s doing. It reveals opportunities for change.

A woman shared that her husband, who’s the major breadwinner, lost his job last month. She was encouraged when reminded what happened during the weekend. First, there was a storm with hail, rain and strong winds. The next day brought blue skies and sun.

No matter what’s going on in your life, what you might consider good or bad, there’s always an opportunity for growth and something better with blue skies.

You’re the creator of what your next chapter looks like. Spring offers a new chapter for you to write.

A key is to hold a clear image and feeling of what you choose.

When doubt sneaks in, you tarnish the image and produce tarnished results.

Then, take inspired action.

TIP: Spring Into Action

Tap into the energy of spring as an opportunity to renew your business and life.

Revisit your dreams and goals. How are you doing? Are you making any progress?

In a way, your answer doesn’t matter as it reflects your past.

It’s your current decision that makes a difference.

Every day take a step in the direction of your goals.

Believe you can create something fun and wonderful, and you can.

When you tap into this feeling, you create good feeling mojo.

The more you enjoy this energy, the easier it is for you to be richly compensated doing what you love.

This or something better.

Regardless of your circumstances, you have a choice about how you feel about you, your goals and your life.

No calamities, people or experiences can dictate how you respond and feel.

Learn. Grow. Move on. Spring into action.

Be richly compensated doing what you love.

One more thing…

Maybe you’re thinking I know all this, but there must be a disconnect because I’m so ready for new and better.

To spring into action and your awesomeness, contact me for a free, one-hour Do What You Love Break Free Session at vg@ResolvedForResults.com.
