A Very Short Story About My Cat NOT Settling for Crumbs

September 20, 2021

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. “Which road do I take?” she asked. His response was a question: “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat “it doesn’t matter.”

LEWIS CARROLL, Alice in Wonderland

My cat charged into the house after being outside for hours. There were a couple of teaspoons of broken, dry food left in her dish, but she didn’t approach it. Instead, she regally stood a couple of steps away facing the bowl.

I knew she was hungry, but she didn’t act desperate or whiny. Actually, she didn’t even give an indication she was interested in food.

I told her, “Just eat the little bit that’s left, and I’ll fill your bowl.” I waited.

She remained poised and motionless, like a royal guard in front of Buckingham Palace.

I needed to put more food in the bowl anyway, so I did.  She devoured it.

My cat Micha consistently teaches me non-verbal lessons about living life more powerfully.

To get the point she’s making requires my observing her attitude and approach rather than being arrogant and treating her like she’s “only a cat.”

For example, she doesn’t settle for crumbs, doesn’t eat the few, measly bits that are stale from sitting out too long. She carries an attitude of anticipation that her needs are met, and they are.

When we expect a particular outcome, we may set ourselves up for disappointment if the results aren’t what we imagined.

When we anticipate and believe that life works in our favor, the universe accommodates our intention. We can feel gratitude and appreciation, looking for the blessing rather than focusing on dissatisfaction.

Are you settling for crumbs in some area of your life? You don’t have to.

TIP: Congrats to Carol Warkoczewski!

May 17, 2016

Carol Warkoczewski

Success at its BEST is an apt description of the City Architect of San Antonio, Texas.

Since January 2000, Carol Warkoczewski’s mastermind teams have supported her goals and dreams every step of the way:

  • When she created her consultancy business of Synergy Builders
  • While getting her Masters in Organization Leadership & Ethics
  • At the conception of her founding the Institute for Leadership in Capital Projects (I-LinCP) and later developing it into a non-profit 501(c)(3) with multiple chapters
  • During a nationwide search which resulted in her being chosen as the City Architect of the 7th largest city in the U.S.
  • Reveling in her being a speaker at AIA Conventions (American Institute of Architects)
  • And enjoying a wonderful family life and travels.

Now, she’s featured in American Builders Quarterly. Here’s the article about her. Go take a peak.

http://americanbuildersquarterly.com/2016/city-of-san-Antonio/

“I think you have to have a heart for public work, and my heart is towards helping people live their life, so being a city architect, you really get to have an influence on the city of San Antonio and its citizens.”

Carol, in addition to it being your birthday, we congratulate you for your many successes – personally and professionally.
You’re a stellar example of having a heart of service and caring. You change people’s lives, and the world is immensely better with you sharing your gifts in BIGGER ways!

So be it!

Your TIP for today is to consider your heart of service.
Good works, commerce, making money or making friends all involve relationships.

Whenever your results and creativity involve others, it’s about relationships – even if you’re sitting in a room by yourself designing ideas or number crunching.

People feel and know your intentions and respond accordingly.

When you take action inspired by a heart of service, people feel it.

You have a choice when you engage in a relationship. When you make a phone call or meet with a client or friend, you can:

  • Feel emotions like worrying about if you don’t get the deal or job, obsessing over a fear of rejection or what-if things don’t work out OR
  • Focus on an intention of your heart of service – how can you help?

Which one would you enjoy experiencing from others?

That’s how they feel about you and the energy that precedes you.

You have a choice.

UPDATE ON MY CAT MICHA:

Thanks for everyone’s well wishes! YOU made a difference by sending her love from your heart of service.

I really didn’t know if she was going to make it.

Now, she’s doing great and eating a lot to make up for when she ate a little.

Personally, I’m in awe of her determination and belief in herself. Her actions demonstrated that it wasn’t her time to go.

She wasn’t willing to give up. So, I didn’t give up.

Don’t you give up on you. Don’t give up believing in you and your dreams, either!

Miracles happen… everyday.
