3 Tips to Be in Charge

March 13, 2023

The freedom of letting go.

You know that voice in your head that never stops talking? It tells you lots of negative things, especially why things can’t work, and you’ll probably not do well if you try. Nothing is good enough, especially you, your time, your money and what you do.

This voice that pretends to be you is your ego. And it’s a good reason not to believe everything you think is true.

It’s a part of you that gives a list of seemingly logical reasons why you should hold back: don’t take the course of action that can help you break free of limitations. And if anyone challenges it, the ego gets upset and defends its (unconscious) faulty assumptions.

You have a choice!

Instead of acting helpless in the grips of Robo-Ego, know that you’re in charge, and unsupportive feelings can leave.

Here are a few tips:

  1. If you want or need something, you’re coming from lack. You’ll be perpetually in a place of wanting instead of having what you choose.
  2. What you resist persists. Although it sounds counter-intuitive, if you don’t like something, you’re holding onto it.
  3. When you let go of trying to control, wanting validation or desiring safety, you can have them.

Ever notice when someone wants or needs a relationship? The objects of their desire want to run. Same thing with money, health or anything.

The freedom everyone longs for breezes in when we let go because then we allow our spirit, our wise self within, to be in charge.

Freedom can happen in seconds not years.

But we block ourselves from having what we really, really want when we clutch onto yucky feelings in our chest or gut or being stuck in our heads.

There are underlying beliefs we’ve tucked away that impact us, but they can be prompted to surface and be released. Everyone has the ability to let go although some resist.

So, we come back to who’s in charge of you? You DO have a choice.

When Things Fall Into Place… In Spite of How It Looks to the Contrary

October 2, 2017

magic

I had a list of deadlines, and I didn’t know how to accomplish them.

As getting worried and trying to make things work just flusters me and makes my actions ineffective, I skipped that step.

So, I observed rather than reacted. I had a few gasps of what’s-going-on when surprises came, and then I let them go. And when I did, things worked out.

Room and car rental reservations went askew, then came together improved.

People showed up from unexpected sources when it looked like they wouldn’t. Not always the way I thought they would but usually better.

Support magically came my way on a hodgepodge of issues, one after the other.

Without fanfare or praying to be saved, I let go and let God.

Being open to receive and an attitude of “things either are going to work or not work” allowed me to let go emotionally.

Why bother getting upset over things not happening the way I think they should or didn’t happen yet?

Trying to control the uncontrollable never helps.

Even though I felt emotionally detached, I held a clear vision of my outcomes manifesting while I released the need to know how.

Step at a time, they worked out! Sometimes minutes after I realized I had an issue, the answer appeared.

The day after a life-changing event, someone shared with me potentially bigger changes. Practically speaking, the prospects didn’t look good.

The consensus of everyone in power was this is a done deal. It would be easier on them if they could just close out the issue and move on.

That seemed better for everyone except the woman who was told she’d have to sell her car, move out of town, live away from friends and neighbors, and lose her home she’s lived in for decades.

My suggestion: ultimately, if you can’t find a solution, then let it go.

However, don’t start with the premise that nothing can be done. With this perspective, solutions won’t be found. Instead, start with the end in mind.

See that this can work, then look for ways how. The answers present themselves in divine right timing.

I received an update a few minutes ago. A week after she was told she’d have to give up her home and car, ways were found to keep them!

There’s always a soulution to a problem. In fact, it exists before we become aware of the issue.

Know that within you are your new directions, answers and clarity — for your business, work and life. You can reveal these by allowing the swirl of emotions to calm so you can hear your quiet voice within.

Instead of trying to make things happen, allow yourself to receive.

Focus on a solution, and things can fall into place, in spite of how it looks to the contrary.

With gratitude,

Virginia

What Do You Do When You Don’t Get No Respect?

March 7, 2017

They had some things in common, like their job and movies, but for most everything else they were opposites. Along with being very opinionated, his lunch buddy also had a strong, negative streak.

Although he got under his skin, my client felt obliged to eat with his co-worker a few times a week because of shared projects. Plus, he didn’t want to eat alone.

The tipping point, however, was the guy’s bad habit. When with a group of people, he would diss my client in a joking way.

This time he’d had enough. Later, he went to his colleague’s cubicle and politely yet clearly expressed that he didn’t like when he did that.

Results? His co-worker hasn’t been around for lunch. For the longest time, what to do about this situation was a quandary. When he stood up for himself, the issue went away.

Freedom.

Eventually, what’s no longer in alignment changes in one way or another.

While you may want to hold onto the status quo and are willing to tolerate that which is intolerable, life won’t let you stay that way for long. Things will change.

Although it can seem easier to complain silently or to others, to justify your reasons for what’s not working, or to act like a car with a dead battery, the strategy of avoidance ultimately gets you nowhere.

Another client experienced disrespect from family members. Her antidote was different.

Instead of being frustrated while resisting and railing against them, she opted to find peace within and to stop trying to control the uncontrollable.

Results? Because she changed her energy from anger to peace, others began to respond to her differently. One person even apologized for his former, rude behavior.

If you put up with things because you feel you must, the world has a way of making you evolve. Life’s personal growth program includes natural disasters, illnesses, accidents, divorce, getting fired, losses, caretaking, and even children.

You can choose to no longer put up with stuff. This means adopting a new perspective or doing something to change before change finds you.

Both clients took action, and neither was better than the other – one was outer, to say something; one was inner, to be at peace.

“Claim Your Energy,”  a segment from my program Resolved for Results, begins with this:

People and activities influence your energy to go up or down. It’s imperative to be vigilant about how you spend your time and with whom as well as what you allow into your heart, thoughts, and environment.

Why? Because people, beliefs, and activities that suck your life force are energy vampires.

TIP: When you remove what brings you down (or never let it enter in the first place), you raise your energy. In turn, life treats you better because you treat yourself better.

Respect starts with you respecting you.

What do you do when you don’t get no respect?

The immortal Rodney Dangerfield said, “That’s the story of my life.”

You don’t have to make it yours.

“I get no respect at all. When I was a kid, I lost my parents at the beach. I asked a lifeguard to help me find them. He said, ‘I don’t know kid. There are so many places they could hide.'”

Note: Know someone who might like getting more respect? You’re welcome to share this post.
