Getting Blamed and It’s Not Your Fault?

October 10, 2022

In The Wizard of Oz, the young girl Dorothy had to deal with many challenges to find her way back home, most of them created by a Wicked Witch.

It was rough going until she realized that she always had the power within her to return.

One turning point came when it appeared there was no way out of a fiery disaster. I mean, that wicked witch was going to kill them all, including Toto the dog! She started by setting on fire Dorothy’s dear friend the Scarecrow, who was made of straw.

Forgetting I’d seen this story countless times, I was shocked. How could they get out of this predicament? There seemed to be none. I couldn’t think of any.

Here’s where the magic of life steps in.  There was a solution, but one they couldn’t have figured out.

To save her friend from the flames, Dorothy threw a bucket of water on him; some of it landed on the witch. Dorothy had no idea what her action would do.

Even if it appears that there’s no way out, there is. Life can step in and provide solutions that you couldn’t imagine.

Wicked Witch of the West:

“Don’t throw that water. (The witch screams.) You cursed brat! Look what you’ve done! I’m melting, melting. Oh what a world, what a world! Who would have thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness! I’m going! Oh! Oh!”

And the witch was dead!

Surrounded by the Wicked Witch’s minions, Dorothy apologized for this unintended consequence. However, everyone rejoiced and broke into song, “Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.”

Notice how the Wicked Witch blamed Dorothy, as if Dorothy was the one who did something wrong, forgettting it was the witch who set her friend on fire!

This is such a common strategy of people lost in their own convoluted thinking. They want others to change so they can continue their goofy, limited approach to life.

By the way, blame is one way the egoic mind operates: You… You… You’re wrong! It’s your fault. Apologize. (I certainly won’t look at how I might be the cause of a problem.)

You don’t have to fall for this attempt to doubt yourself!

Just like in Star Wars where a ragtag group defeated the Empire. Just like how a good, little girl like Dorothy and her friends melted the witch…

You can get over any hurdles in your path, too.

There are ways of breaking free to enjoy the life, business or work of your dreams. There is a better way than trying to make things happen, trying to figure things out or getting tired of trying.

You have the power within you!

Not Good Enough in La La Land

February 6, 2017

dream-bigger

Do you know the #1 issue for everyone on the planet?

It even showed up in the #1 nominated movie La La Land when a main character lost all confidence before going for the BIG dream – exhausted from trying, past rejections and feeling positive it wouldn’t work.

At some point, it’s had a starring role in your life, too.

It’s what prevents you from believing in yourself.

It’s hounded you to despair and disappointment creating doubt, anger, fear, lack, anxiety and every limitation.

No, you’re not the only one who thinks other people’s lives are better and, after objective and/or emotional comparison, you reached the conclusion there’s something’s wrong with you.

This is the #1 issue.

You feel you’re not good enough, and you have living proof because (fill in the blank of how you feel you and your life are messed up).

“Not good enough” is only a program in your head that was put there a while ago – when you were a little kid.

This is NOT you.

It’s just a program, and it can be changed!

What does it look like when your software program produces this error message?

Here are some ways people have tried to bolster their spirits to find peace, feel good and create success. You’ve probably used some of these well-worn strategies, too, only to find you’re basically in the same place you started.

Do any of these fixes sound familiar?

  • Trying to control situations or others and getting upset or anxious when it doesn’t work. Trying to control means you feel out of control. You can feel frustrated if things don’t go the way you think they should. After a while, you can give up and might go into depression because this fix has more holes in it than Swiss cheese.
  • Wanting others’ approval by people pleasing; looking for self-worth by rescuing others; holding yourself back because of what others might think; or stuffing your emotions and desires. Dream big? Forget it. Too risky.
  • Feeling insecure because you don’t have enough love, money, health, respect, direction, time, contacts, etc. Playing it safe seems like a good reason to hold yourself back, but you can end up unfulfilled where even you get bored with yourself.
  • Feeling bad about you, what you’ve accomplished, what you’re doing and your future prospects. Oh, what’s the use of trying. Bingo – you’re chasing your tail and going nowhere.
  • Playing the victim so others feel sorry for you even though you sincerely express you don’t want them to and you’re not a victim… but silently craving that someone will make all your problems go away.

What’s a key to break free?

Breaking free is an inside job. Nobody can save you but you. Begin by changing your perspective.

You’ve been looking for love in all the wrong places.

Shift your focus to what you have instead of what you don’t have.

Instead of the agonizing feeling of wanting what you don’t have, recognize the feelings of love, safety and fulfillment you long for are already within you.

You can’t move a car forward and backwards at the same time without spinning in circles.

Likewise, you can’t have and want at the same time.

When you shift your focus to what you have, you’ll discover you are more than enough.

When your energy aligns with this feeling, you can write your ticket to success.

Shift happens!

Feeling you’re not enough is simply a habit.

To help you shift gears, write daily 10-15 things you’re grateful for.

Shifting takes practice, but you’re more than capable of changing your perspective.

Invest a few minutes daily to focus on how things are working out for you.

Size doesn’t matter – got out of bed, conquered fear of calling a client, landed a promotion. Any acknowledgement will help you change your habit so you feel better about you as you rewrite the trash talk that goes on in your head.

Change your energy, change your life.

Bring on your dreams, and dream BIGGER!

TIP: The 4 P’s Keys to Break Free

March 8, 2016

4keys_golden

Are you ready, perhaps beyond ready, to break free from the sameness of your business or life (same money, people, problems, etc.), debt or feeling the drag of whatever’s not working for you?

Wherever you are, there IS a way to free yourself so you can share your gifts with the world in a bigger way and be richly compensated.

Here are four keys that can help:

PLANNING and PERSPECTIVE: Bring on an elixir that brings results – a CEO meeting with the Divine.

Seriously, this really works.

Take time to write your needs and choices (not just talk and beg) and ask God, the universe or however you relate to the Powers That BE for help. By pausing to gain perspective and accessing this source of Love and wisdom, you open yourself to direction and miracles.

Use your meeting to write down plans, insights and ideas. You may not know what to do, but you’re not asking you. Open to receive guidance.

Numerous times when I thought there were no solutions, new paths appeared where they previously hadn’t existed. If you keep the faith, you can gain both perspective and results.

For more details, check out my very first blog post https://soulgoals.wordpress.com/2009/10/

PROMOTION: To move forward requires connecting with others. Create or foster relationships. Share your ideas. Believe enough in you and what you do to promote your vision to others. Open to new ways to share or market you and your gifts.

If you don’t know how, go back to the CEO meeting with the Divine. If an idea doesn’t pop in immediately, it’s on its way.

Surround yourself with people who have positive energy and care about you. A mastermind team can offer support and focus to stay on track with your goals. Be sure you’re receiving not just giving.

By the way, don’t be so self-centered that you only care about you. Healthy relationships are about balance.

Decades ago, I saw a skit that I still remember. While singing a beautiful opera aria, a woman was surrounded on stage with numerous people. However, she was so preoccupied with her own voice without paying attention to others that, one by one, they left the stage.

At the end of the song, she was alone.

If you’re consumed with your greatness, opinions or problems and consistently share these without a sincere interest in others, you may find your support dwindling.

PERFORMANCE: Take action. Work your business. Improve your skills. Meet with clients and prospects. Spend time on money-generating activities, if that’s your goal. Give your best service to the world in whatever capacity you can in the moment. Allow the universe to meet you half way by being visible and participating in life.

TIP: The 4 Keys to Break Free

You ARE important, so take time for you.

  • Pull out a pad of paper and have a meeting with your CEO.
  • Reach out and connect. Build relationships. Share your vision with those who might be supportive or can advance you in doing what you love.
  • Five days a week, take action to move you in the direction of your vision. What starts out as a small step can gain momentum – and you’ll be unstoppable.

BONUS: Set an intention that your plans are working. Your ideas might not manifest exactly as you thought, but they may emerge better than imagined. Find a saying that inspires you and repeat it, such as:

Life always work out in my favor. Life always work out in my favor. Life always work out in my favor.

You can discover it does, if you’re open to believe.
