An Eclipse, Hurricane Harvey & a Bigger Design

August 28, 2017

IMG_0863 (2)

Nature has her way of clearing energy, including that which hibernates unseen for centuries from wars and negativity. Wind and water through floods and rains are some methods she uses to purify as well as encourage people to make changes.

It’s been described to me this way. The planet is a living organism, and nature is like a farmer rotating her crops. There are times we must look for a different place to grow, higher ground.

Speaking of energy, the power of supportive thoughts and prayers makes a difference.

It’s a good time to take a moment now to send positive energy.

In one week, we’ve seen changes from a total eclipse to Hurricane Harvey.

At the beginning of the week, people’s differences evaporated as they came together during a total eclipse.

Days later, differences cease to exist once more as people risk their lives to help friends and total strangers in the worse disaster Texas has seen.

For every experience, however calamitous, there’s always a silver lining.

While living in New York City, I wondered what could cause people there to shift their attitudes and come together. When 9/11 came along, I got my answer. As we witnessed the worst of humanity, we also saw its best as the world pulled together in support.

Amidst the shock and devastation caused by Harvey, we see courage, selflessness, kindness, caring, respect, compassion, love and people helping people. Humanity at its best.

It often takes things to get really bad before we refocus on what’s real and truly important.

Through crises, we role model to ourselves behaviors that we can continue to choose on a daily basis.

Opinionated soap boxes and self-serving, judgmental attitudes seem petty. Past worries become small.

You’ve experienced challenges; some were life-changing.

Maybe your material things got shuffled around, and life didn’t turn out the way you expected (if that’s even possible for anyone). Your struggles stretched you to the max. The mirror of how you saw yourself was shattered.

The master gardener of life tilled your fields making room for different crops. Better crops.

Look at a current challenge in your business or life.

Step back and put things in perspective. Maybe you have to take so many steps back to get a better view that you feel like you’re falling off a cliff.

If you let go of your preconceived ideas, can you see a bigger design?

You’re learning something. Dodged a bullet you didn’t know was coming. Made changes you prayed for but didn’t know how to make. You grew.

Use your experiences as a course correct for your business, work and life instead of letting them beat you down.

To see a more immense picture, realize that you’re on a rock orbiting a star called our sun that’s 93 million miles away while spinning at nearly 1000 miles an hour.

By doing so, you can feel something more vast than everyday life as well as your place in the universe.

Put on your energetic, eclipse glasses, see the sun and be open to receive inspired “soulutions.”

What Pruning & Cleaning Clutter Teaches Me

May 3, 2017
2169239749_3487eb4753[1]

Last week, when I wasn’t coaching, I was outside doing yardwork.

Before that, I cleaned every single paper off my desk (yikes, that took weeks of chipping away at it), deleted or filed hundreds of emails (still got more to go), cleared out pockets of clutter around my house and completed projects I’ve been meaning to get to for seemingly forever.

I finally washed 40 jars and bought new spices for a rack I bought three years ago.

I updated my password list. I’ve been receiving regular bodywork to support my back, now that it’s aligned. I glued the lining of a favorite shoe. I’m deepening my meditations.

We leak our energy when there are things that need our attention, but we put off or ignore them.

In my twenties, I sat very close to the stage and watched the late, great motivational speaker Zig Ziglar. He gave everyone in the audience a wooden round Tuit to remind us to get around to it – whatever we’ve been putting off.

As I gaze out my window, sunlight shines throughout the day on areas that used to be completely covered in shade. What a metaphor. I learned that the shadows disappeared by allowing more light to come through because I cleared out the clutter and dead branches. Life can grow in places it couldn’t before.

Spring cleaning my office, home and yard opens space for my next steps.

While doing in-depth sessions, I had the inner space to remember and use techniques I learned decades ago that are helping clients break free of their egos’ self-sabotage.

Beyond mulching and clearing, I’m planting what a neighbor calls jewelry – pretty flowers in my yard.

Step at a time, I’m preparing my soil for future growth in all areas of my life.

Sometimes the old gets cleared out through nature and evolution. Fires clear weaker trees and debris and returns health to the forest. Challenges clear out limiting thinking and beliefs that sabotage greater success and happiness.

Last year at this time, my biggest goal was to sleep. For a year, I was the caretaker for my cat who woke me throughout the night to cope with her illness, which left me feeling like a sleep-deprived zombie. Before that, my attention was focused on getting rid of a devastating mold caused by torrential rains that affected my body, head, home and finances. That was two years ago this month. _____________________________

Since my cat passed last June, I realized the energy of “catching up” and feeling “overwhelmed with so much to do” were visualizations that would only create my having to dig out of a bigger hole.

I would have liked everything in my life to be in order yesterday.

Instead, I see myself being “in front of” my life, business and finances. This focus has placed me on a new trajectory.

It’s working. Things are getting done. I’m feeling good. I see new horizons.

If you’re clearing out the old through challenges, may you find greater peace with a perspective of gratitude and see light that graces your life in ways it couldn’t before. Blue skies follow storms.

If you’ve been putting off taking care of things that you wish were over and done, consider getting around to it. One step at a time will do.

Begin. The rest is easy.

P.S. Know someone who might be uplifted by reading this? You’re invited to pass this on.

TIP: Are Foolish Consistencies Keeping You Stuck?

November 28, 2016

395px-ralph_waldo_emerson_ca1857

“A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” Ralph Waldo Emerson from his essay “Self-Reliance”
Are you thinking for yourself?Or are you making current choices based on past decisions or on what other people think?

Holding onto fixed ideas and not being open to new ones is an example of a foolish consistency, and it can keep you stuck.

A foolish consistency can affect your heart.

A man, who places a high value on keeping his word, made a promise to repair expensive equipment and gift it to a friend.

Personally, giving this gift meant a great deal to him.

After several months, he realized the equipment couldn’t be repaired.

He tried really hard to make the unworkable workable.

When he couldn’t, it meant he couldn’t keep his word and couldn’t give this gift, both of which caused him extreme, emotional stress.

He took this to heart.

He took a lot of things to heart.

Including a heart attack.

He let go of the foolish consistencies and now is doing great.

A foolish consistency can affect your goals.

Years ago, I had a plan of how I thought things should work.

First, I’d write my course, and then I’d buy a house.

What happened is that moving came first, and this allowed me to be in a better environment.

A foolish consistency would’ve been to insist on living in a space that wasn’t conducive to writing.

To this day, I’m careful not to be misled by my preconceived ideas, aka foolish consistencies, about what comes first and who’s on second.

See what life is presenting at the moment. New ways often exceed one’s wildest expectation about how things can work out.

A foolish consistency can affect your money.

In spite of her best efforts and through no fault of her credit report, a silly regulation stopped a woman from refinancing to get money she needed.

At first, she was disappointed.

Not being bogged down with a foolish consistency, she refocused her thinking on this or something better.

Her business skyrocketed, and she made $18,000 in one month (far exceeding her past, monthly incomes) with many more deals in her pipeline.

Little minds worry about a foolish consistency.

Greater minds align with the moment.

Your TIP is to use your great mind! Let go of your limiting, foolish consistencies, and be open to new ideas to receive what you want.

Challenge the way you think and usually do things, especially if you feel stuck or you’re trying to break free into something better.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

If you’ve tried something new and you’re beating yourself up because it didn’t work the way you thought – stop it!

Getting down on yourself is not helping.

Give yourself a chance to align with a different track to success, and be open to receive something better.

Breathe. Listen within.

Your inner wisdom is 100% on your side to guide you from stuck to success.

Be willing to receive its messages.

I work with people who long to share their gifts or business in a BIGGER way but don’t know how or feel stuck. I help them ignite their Soul’s goals and be richly compensated doing what they love.

TIP: Break for Freedom

October 4, 2016

woman-near-water-and-ice-mountain

My neighbor posted online that her two dogs escaped the yard.

After she wrote of their safe return, I messaged her saying that I went out to look for them and had the impression they were out on an adventure.

She replied: “Probably like the time my sister and I decided we would run away from home, jumped out our bedroom window with a pillowcase full of clothes, and got to the end of our gravel driveway before deciding this probably wasn’t a good plan!”

I shared with her a similar experience when I had had it!! I packed my little suitcase with the intention of running away – to my next door neighbor’s home on the other side of the driveway. It ended with the adults having a good laugh about it.

Her response: “I guess we all have our stories about the ‘break for freedom!’ “

Recently I’ve heard several “break for freedom” stories.

They started with how they “had had it.”

Do you yearn for greater freedom about any of these?

  • Worrying about lack – not having enough money, skills, production, time
  • Not feeling good enough, worthy, deserving, adequate
  • Not knowing where to get more business or how to grow it more
  • Longing to share your gifts in a bigger way with big dreams
  • Really, truly wanting to break with parts of the past and old patterns
  • Procrastination and fear
  • Lack of clarity, doubt
  • Being appreciated by friends, family, relationships, business associates
  • Different home, vehicle, ways for life to be more fun and meaningful

Have you noticed that whatever happens to you in your life and business, you’re the common denominator?

You’re in every one of your experiences – even though you might feel that others were doing things to you.

Running away from home or yourself doesn’t work because no matter where you go, you’re still there.

Pushing feelings down and ignoring them is a weighty subject. No diet will work if you’re eating emotions creating extra fluff to the butt, hips and tummy.

The most effective way to break free is to release old patterns,  clarify direction, align your energy for success, design a plan, get support, learn new tools and consciously create.

But where do you start?

Your TIP is to let go.

Instead of trying to figure what you gotta do, feeling that you have to micro-manage and control things for fear all h___ will break loose… step back, take a breath and let go.

Don’t give up but give over – give over to a divine energy that’s greater than what you can imagine.

The more you let go, the bigger the space you allow for miracles and successes to surprise and delight you.

Looking for support on letting go and breaking out for more freedom?

A new Resolved for Results mastermind team is forming now with great people registered who choose to align their energy for success.

All meetings are by phone, so you can be anywhere where you have access to Skype or a phone.

If you feel a longing to let go and share your gifts or business in a BIGGER way, message or email me with your questions to learn more. vg@ResolvedForResults.com

Know someone who’s ready to break for freedom? Pass this on.

Annoyed? Frustrated? Worried?

April 19, 2016
reflection of trees in water

Thoughts can be like a dog with a bone where you just can’t let go, incapable to stop chewing on them for hours, days, weeks. Or a lifetime. The same story replayed over and over in your head.

We’re all programmed with certain emotions. I call them emotional defaults.

For example, annoyance, frustration or worry could rule. Even if a problem is solved, something else will be the cause for more frustration, annoyance or worry.

If you notice, it’s a habit. It’s the same emotion you feel over and over again. If one of your defaults is frustration, for example, there will often be something around to frustrate you.

Newton’s first law of motion is inertia. A body in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted on by an external force. So it is with your thinking, too.

Unless something stops this trajectory, people could be annoyed, frustrated or worried, complaining non-stop in their heads or to others, often about people, circumstances or beating themselves up.

Once on a long, solo road trip, I grumbled about the same thoughts and “justifiable” anger… repeatedly… for hours. Finally, on an open stretch of road in West Texas, I became bored and tired of my internal conversation.

There was no one around to talk/whine to which often acts like a pressure release valve, so I took responsibility for my own thoughts and emotions.

Because I was willing to let go, an idea came to play a game called “Change Your Perspective.”  Then, other perspectives emerged, new ways to look at the situation.

I stopped being upset and acting like a victim by blaming.

I was able to let it go and move on.

Since then, I’ve learned that this negative thinking cycle is a function of the ego. If we let it have its way, it will consume us with misery.

When you’re obsessed with negative thoughts, you’ve turned your life over to your ego.

Everyone has a choice of how to think and feel regardless of their circumstances. So do you.

After a disaster, people with different viewpoints talk about their experience. Some focus on what they’ve lost, others are grateful for what they still have.

Your TIP is that you don’t have to be a prisoner of your own mind.

Just as trees next to a lake are reflected in the water, your attitudes are reflected in your life.

If you don’t like what you see, you CAN change it. Write about what you’re thinking and feeling.

Write how you can change your perspective. To let it go, burn or shred it.

Writing by hand and not the computer brings more clarity, perspective and releases negative energy. Set an intention that you’re open to receive answers and break free.

You may have resistance at first because your ego wants your thoughts to hold you in old, familiar patterns.

Stuck? Ask for divine assistance.

This works in business, too.

An employee came to her manager, who’s a masterminder, about a complaint.  She told him to write about it and then shred it in the office shredder. He said that no one ever told him that before.

She used to get upset about office politics. She shifted her perspective so now it no longer affects her.

When you clear mental and emotional space, you have room for your goals to manifest and for greater peace and happiness to flourish.

Why did I choose this topic today? Because when I realized I was rehashing the same topic in my thoughts for a couple of days, I knew it was time to write.

I resisted. I didn’t want to journal. Didn’t think it would do any good. And in a few minutes after writing – POOF, I let it go.

By the way, if you have recurring patterns and could use more help, ask me about an LoL session – Liberation of Lunacy – because we’re all a little crazy when our ego is in charge.

GET A ROUND TUIT

September 30, 2013

You haven’t heard from me for a while because I’ve been focusing on my mastermind groups, having fun and  a whirlwind of completions. You know, those pesky nags that remind you of unfinished business.

Years ago, I attended a lecture by the late Zig Ziglar where he gave us his business card  – a  wooden, round TUIT. Translated: get around to it. Stop procrastinating and take action.

Recently, my eyes opened to the big picture of what I’d been tolerating. The broken blinds – hey, they worked if I didn’t raise them. The dangling coat hanger because I didn’t install the molly bolts correctly. The clusters of daddy long legs that resided on my porch and invaded my house when the door opened. Half the burners on my stove not heating well, etc., etc. It was time for change.

The mailbox looks great even though I sanded it with the sandpaper inside out.

My mailbox I refinished looks great even though I didn’t know what I was doing.

I found that projects often come with obstacles and learning curves. Wasn’t I surprised to discover, while proudly using my electric hand sander for the first time, that I refinished my weather-beaten, wooden mailbox with the sandpaper attached inside out. It turned out great anyway.

I asked questions only to find that many “experts” give crazy advice and don’t know what they’re talking about but act like they do. However, my intentions eventually drew the right people and solutions to me. I continue to tackle projects in spite of my ignorance. I learn and then I’m no longer clueless on those subjects. Not knowing what to do no longer stops me for long.

I’m motivated because stuff left undone as well as unresolved history drain energy making it challenging to focus on goals. Plus, results feel great.

Make room for your destiny. Courageously take action. Throw out your holey undies; no, they’re not sacred. Connect with folks you’ve been meaning to contact. Clearing space in your head and environment releases a power for your dreams to come true.

Believe in you. You don’t have to know how to manifest your goals or even what they are.  If you have that gut feeling that now-is the-time-for-change, then now is the time to get around TUIT.

If you choose to receive support, coaching, direction, focus and clarity, my Resolved for Results course is a game-changer to create results beyond your wildest imagination. www.ResolvedForResults.com

I am grateful to support your choices and see you receiving them!
