FEATURE: A Realtor Talks on Business and Her Mother’s Stage 4 Cancer

November 15, 2016

road

My client Melinda and I first met when I gave a training at her real estate office 11 years ago this month.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of watching her professional and personal growth – from a rookie with her “phone glued to her hip” out of concern she’d miss a call to becoming a top realtor to the story you’re about to read.

During a 1:1 coaching call, I was so impressed by her wisdom, perspective and success that emerged during her year of challenges that I asked if I could share my notes from her session with you. Her words are italicized in blue.

Considering how much I’ve been out of the office, this year has been fantastic!

Her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Much of their year was scheduled around appointments that lasted many days at a time over many months at MD Anderson Cancer Center which is a four-hour drive each way.

While many would feel at the mercy of this experience, Melinda proactively designed hers.

I want things to happen on my time, when and how I choose them to happen.

At first, this sounds like a bold statement. Actually, she was applying principles and techniques she learned.

To begin with, they make the trips fun and something to enjoy by going to museums, restaurants and visiting family. They even celebrated her mother being cancer-free on a three-week vacation.

During the summer I thought I was having a bad year. However, 2016 is turning out to be a pretty good year. And I feel rested.

When we do trips to MD, we do a lot to make it an adventure and not a chore.

I’m focusing on my mother, taking care of me, getting my rest, doing business – but not killing myself over it.

I’m listening to my body. The world’s not going to come to an end if we’re not rushing around and stressing ourselves to the max. I’m choosing life. I’m creating memories and adventure.

I don’t feel like I have to prove myself to be a success.

Instead, she’s making a point to live her life.

Melinda and I previously had talked about what we do in the “dash.”

The dash (-)  is our life, what happens in between Date of Birth – Date of Passing that’s found on a headstone.

I’m adding to the dash.

When her mother’s regular treatments were almost completed, her father was hospitalized.

In the midst of medical confusion while in the hospital, he unexpectedly passed away.

She was able to put these experiences, including taking care of her finances in the midst of all this, in perspective.

Based on peace and faith – God gives me whatever I need. He’s always provided.

I’ve got someone looking out for me, and it’s always worked.

When you do that, you let go of that other garbage (fear).

This is the biggest shift for me this year.

I know of people who’ve died in a car accident. Things like that and dealing with my parents, in the big scheme of things, the petty things we get involved with … does it really matter?

There’s a lot of drama in the world now. People’s issues are coming up. The part of the clarity I’ve had is, why wig out on all this stuff?

Sometimes I sit back while looking at this drama and think “Really? You’re getting upset about that?”

People see me as calm, laid back and that I’m sure and confident. But I think some of my being calm is not getting all wrapped up in the drama.

The more you focus on you HAVE to accomplish something, it runs away from you.

When I started in real estate, I felt pressure to succeed. I noticed during times like these, I received fewer or no phone calls.

Then I would go for a drive, and the phone would ring.

Why? Because I let go.

Same thing happens when Realtors leave town. They let go, and that’s why they start receiving business just before or during a vacation.

This year has been about letting go. This brings peace. With these two things, I get clarity.

As we wrapped up our session, Melinda summed up our conversation by responding to questions I asked.

  • With clarity you add depth to the dash. You can create life to be whatever you choose.
  • Having faith and believing are keys as well.
  • How this applies to my life is that by letting go of the fear, I was forced to be in the present moment. By being in the moment I was able to enjoy the moment and add depth to my life.
  • Being in the present moment, we did fun things so life didn’t get us down and be negative – like going to a museum.
  • Before all this, I would talk to a co-worker as a sounding board… and really just complain and whine about things.
  • By letting go, in the big scheme of things – are things really that earth shattering and important?  You can see that drama adds stress and negativity.
  • About business, I found that it looked like I didn’t care and have the drive. No, I still care, but I choose quality of life vs. running myself ragged and getting involved in the hoopla.
  • My experiences this year helped me be in Divine Flow and use the Law of Attraction.  It’s helped me in business to manifest. Two $630,000+ deals came out of the blue.
  • About my finances, I feel very blessed. It goes back to belief that God always takes care of me, and money’s going to come. With all I had going on this year, I still was able to make significant financial gains and have fun.
  • We can get so tied up with everything, we forget to be grateful. And I am very, very grateful.
  • I was getting wrapped up in the pressure of things aren’t good enough. I forgot how we’re programmed for that. So instead I went back into how we’re always provided for, and it brings gratitude.
  • Then you don’t have the heaviness and instead feel lighter and happier.

I told her that she now KNOWS her intentions create what she sees in her life because what she set as part of her goals this year has been happening:

She’s had more fun, more time off, got off the cycle of fear and stress when she redirected her focus to family…  and had a very good year in business.

May you find some inspiration in Melinda’s story to create the life and business you choose.

God and a universal energy have everything in control.

Nobody and nothing outside of you determines your success and happiness.

It’s up to you to empower yourself from within and not give your power away to others, including those in powerful positions, or circumstances.

TIP: Ignite Your Passion

November 1, 2016

img_4005

What turns you on?

Do you dutifully go through day-to-day living?

Are you simply trying to make the best of your lot in life or do you complain about it and others?

Or do you know that, if you allow yourself to redirect your focus, your life can be sensational?

A few minutes ago, I returned from a tango performance by an Argentinian dance company.

The audience was wild with excitement.

The precision talent of the dancers, singers and musicians was inspiring.

However, unlike most everyone who watched, it didn’t ignite my passion.

If you’ve read my TIPS lately, you know I’ve attended several performances that sent me soaring.

The common denominator is that each uplifted me. Coupled with extraordinary talent, I walked away smiling a big YES to life.

Here’s what I noticed doesn’t turn me on.

Watching a drunk destroy his life and lose his disheartened woman after causing her misery.

Forcing a woman to be with him against her will – even dragging her.

Rivalry, jealousy and an uncaring spirit.

People being mean and cold to each other.

Violent knife fights.

Yes, this is art, and, of course, there’s freedom of expression.

Perhaps this was all to make a point to demonstrate consequences.

Yes, worse exists in this world.

Personally, I don’t find watching these uplifting or life-affirming.

The energy we fill ourselves with – drama or joy or fear – is what we’ll find mirrored in daily life, too.

I’ve learned a secret.  It’s why some succeed and others struggle.

The secret is found in what you focus on and how it makes you feel.

If you focus on misery and what makes you feel bad, you attract misery in your life.

Focusing on what makes you feel good brings you more things that make you feel good.

A friend told me that she’s turning into her mother – complaining.

The result? My friend felt depressed and hopeless.

She said she was whining and wine-ing too much.

Her mother died of cancer in her fifties. She believes her attitudes ate away at her, just like the cancer.

My friend woke up to what she was doing and made a decision to choose life – change her own attitude; watch what she was putting in her body; take care of herself better; focus on her goals and dreams instead of her limiting situation.

Focusing on negatives or mediocrity can keep you stuck.

You can focus on the bad and the ugly or the good and beautiful.

Remember, where your attention goes, energy flows. You’ll create more of the same.

If you focus on what makes you happy, your life is waay more enjoyable, too.

Feeling good is the master key to manifest the life and business of your dreams.

Life sucks for everyone at times. But where you focus and how you respond is a CHOICE.

Your TIP is to identify one or more things that ignite your passion… and go for it.

Yeah, yeah. You’re busy and have a lot of responsibilities. You gotta make money. You gotta do a lotta things. You really don’t have time. You feel exhausted. Others are depending on you.

You are depending on you, too!

This is your life. What are you doing to enjoy it?

What are you doing to take care of yourself?

What turns you on?

The company of supportive people who unconditionally care about you is a godsend.

This is one of the benefits of our mastermind teams.

For me, I love what I do helping people do what they love so their dreams come true.

And I believe my passion will be ignited when later this week I see The Temptations and The Four Tops in concert. I’ll let you know on my next TIP.

TIP: My Embarrassment – Kinda

October 19, 2016

cat-surprised

Full disclosure: I was sitting on the… well, where I was sitting is beside the point. Except that I just woke up and felt relaxed.

The crazy thought came to me: what would I say if someone asked this question. Can you name an embarrassing moment?

The only thing that came to mind is what if a client saw me the way I look now.

The night before I returned home at midnight after seeing Patrizio in concert (reference to last week’s TIP) and would travel soon to be with a friend and see him perform again that night.

Before I left, however, I decided to book a Liberation of Lunacy phone session (LoL) with a new client. LoL is a technique I created to liberate fear, anxiety, lack, limit and doubt through your power of choice, perspective, love and putting your Essence in charge.

Lunacy because we’re all a little crazy when our ego’s in charge.

Liberation because people feel tremendous relief from the mental and emotional burdens they’ve been carrying. They free themselves to pursue their goals in a bigger way and get powerful results.

Usually I’m showered and dressed before my sessions. I feel fresher and more present.

With my time considerations, I decided to wear a lightweight bathrobe that I’ve used for projects around the house – paint stained and with, shall I delicately call it, a plunging and very revealing neckline.

During her session, we were deeply focused to help her release.

Apparently, there’s a beep that goes off when FaceTime turns on. I didn’t hear it but suddenly noticed that I was seeing a face instead of the phone’s keypad.

I asked what happened, and she said FaceTime came on. I stumbled around to turn it off, confusing because I already had it turned off in my setting.

I was so engaged in the process that I didn’t consider the ramifications of a new client observing her coach she’s never met in what could be a test run for Halloween.

Oh well. Nothing I could do about it. It is what it is. Time to get ready to leave.

However, the next day during a follow up call, I asked about it. She informed me about the beeps and had the good grace to turn FaceTime off when she realized what was happening.

That explains why her voice didn’t reflect shock.

Here’s the powerful part.

I casually had the thought that morning. I had no resistance to it happening because it was playful, mental banter. Never even considered any real consequences.

There was no wondering if I could create such a scene. No doubt to gnaw at me. No fear or anxiety. Just a pure idea, a simple thought going out into the universe.

Within a couple of hours, what I claimed as an embarrassing moment occurred.

Law of Attraction at work.

Whatever we focus on comes to pass. Casual thoughts included. Silly thoughts. Angry thoughts. Frustrating thoughts. Any thought.

Thoughts create feelings. Our feelings manifest.

We are that powerful.

You are that powerful.

So if you don’t like something in your business or life, don’t feed it by thinking about it.

Think about something else.

It’s your life. Don’t turn your power and happiness over to another person, a politician, someone who “done you wrong,” or any situation – even if it feels hopeless.

There’s always a way out!

I spent the weekend watching The Truth About Cancer Ultimate Live Symposium online with nearly 50 world-renowned doctors and experts with a mission to educate, expose and eradicate cancer. The information works for any illness.

Cancer and other diseases are not death sentences.

There are countless alternative modalities and strategies for healing that work! Redirect your focus to see them and take action.

We always have a choice: hold onto old beliefs or be open to transform into something more wonderful.

This is true for your health, your business, your finances, your life.

Choice: at times, needlessly suffer or die leaving loved ones behind or be open to change.

It’s about education. Outside your box exists a magnificent world of possibilities.

YouTube videos on the life-saving work of The Truth About Cancer is a great place to start for your health.

Your TIP is to use your power on YOUR behalf to consciously create what you choose.

Masterminders will recognize that this is inspired by Resolved for Results Principle #6:

I believe I am worthy and deserve to achieve my goals or something better, and I choose to use my personal empowerment on my behalf which allows me to serve life more fully.

There is a new Resolved for Results mastermind team forming, which includes the classy and dynamic woman who graciously turned off FaceTime without missing a beat.

If you have a yearning to break-free of your current circumstances and be richly compensated doing what you love in a BIGGER way (or even clarifying what that is), this is your invitation.

Email me at vg@ResolvedForResults.com to learn more.

Recently I talked with a Masterminder who told me that when she was little she prayed and prayed to make her the person God wanted her to be – a good person and here to do something. Now in her sixties, for the first time ever, it’s happened. No more low self-esteem. She’s happy, shares her many talents and lives everyday with meaning and gusto, feeling great about herself and life.

Imagine how much you can manifest with joy and by skipping the embarrassing hard parts.
