Going Bonkers? This Can Help.

April 6, 2020

Sheltering in place and starting to go bonkers?

This can help.

Do you pass by stuff in your home that needs to be done and tell yourself that you’re going to get around to it someday?

Do you know your gotta-get-around-to-it list, that you never get around to, drains your energy? It can also leave you feeling depressed, unmotivated, hopeless, stuck and even lower your self-esteem?

Oh that messy desk and button that fell off.

Don’t dismay.

Now’s a perfect time to catch up. Here’s what I discovered…

Years ago, I attended a lecture by the late motivational speaker Zig Ziglar. Everyone in the audience received a wooden coin. We each got a Round Tuit.

Translated: Here’s your moment. Now is your time. Stop procrastinating, and take action.

Recently, my eyes opened to the big picture of what I’d been tolerating. The broken blinds – hey, they worked if I didn’t raise them. The dang, dangling, wall-mounted, coat hanger fixture because I didn’t install the molly bolts correctly. The clusters of daddy long legs that resided on my porch and invaded my house when the door opened. Half the burners on my stove not heating well, etc. etc. It was time for change.

I found that projects often come with obstacles and learning curves. Wasn’t I surprised to realize, while proudly using my electric hand sander for the first time, that I refinished my weather-beaten, wooden mailbox with the sandpaper attached inside out. It turned out great anyway, even though I didn’t know what I was doing.

The mailbox looks great even though I sanded it with the sandpaper inside out.

Regarding other projects, I asked questions only to find that many “experts” give crazy advice and don’t know what they’re talking about but act like they do.

However, my intentions eventually drew the right people and solutions to me.

I continue to tackle projects in spite of my ignorance. I learn, and then I’m no longer clueless on those subjects.

Not knowing what to do no longer stops me for long.

Which do you choose?

  • Stuff left undone, as well as unresolved, personal history, drains your energy making it challenging to focus on goals.
  • Getting stuff done feels great and inspires you to do more!

Throw out your holey undies; no, they’re not sacred.

Connect with folks you’ve been meaning to contact.

Clearing space in your head and environment releases a power for your dreams to come true.

You don’t have to know how to manifest your goals or even what they are.

Believe in you! Take ONE step at a time. The next step then will be revealed.

If you have a gut feeling that now is the time for change, then be happy that you finally got A ROUND TUIT.

From Wiktionary:
round tuit (plural round tuits)

  1. (humorous) A circular object giving its owner the ability to get done everything that would have otherwise been put off to a later date “when they got around to it”.
No more waiting until you get around to it.

This is the perfect time to let go of what’s not working, enjoy this moment and create your phenomenal future!

Getting a Round Tuit is way better than going bonkers.

What Pruning & Cleaning Clutter Teaches Me

May 3, 2017

Last week, when I wasn’t coaching, I was outside doing yardwork.

Before that, I cleaned every single paper off my desk (yikes, that took weeks of chipping away at it), deleted or filed hundreds of emails (still got more to go), cleared out pockets of clutter around my house and completed projects I’ve been meaning to get to for seemingly forever.

I finally washed 40 jars and bought new spices for a rack I bought three years ago.

I updated my password list. I’ve been receiving regular bodywork to support my back, now that it’s aligned. I glued the lining of a favorite shoe. I’m deepening my meditations.

We leak our energy when there are things that need our attention, but we put off or ignore them.

In my twenties, I sat very close to the stage and watched the late, great motivational speaker Zig Ziglar. He gave everyone in the audience a wooden round Tuit to remind us to get around to it – whatever we’ve been putting off.

As I gaze out my window, sunlight shines throughout the day on areas that used to be completely covered in shade. What a metaphor. I learned that the shadows disappeared by allowing more light to come through because I cleared out the clutter and dead branches. Life can grow in places it couldn’t before.

Spring cleaning my office, home and yard opens space for my next steps.

While doing in-depth sessions, I had the inner space to remember and use techniques I learned decades ago that are helping clients break free of their egos’ self-sabotage.

Beyond mulching and clearing, I’m planting what a neighbor calls jewelry – pretty flowers in my yard.

Step at a time, I’m preparing my soil for future growth in all areas of my life.

Sometimes the old gets cleared out through nature and evolution. Fires clear weaker trees and debris and returns health to the forest. Challenges clear out limiting thinking and beliefs that sabotage greater success and happiness.

Last year at this time, my biggest goal was to sleep. For a year, I was the caretaker for my cat who woke me throughout the night to cope with her illness, which left me feeling like a sleep-deprived zombie. Before that, my attention was focused on getting rid of a devastating mold caused by torrential rains that affected my body, head, home and finances. That was two years ago this month. _____________________________

Since my cat passed last June, I realized the energy of “catching up” and feeling “overwhelmed with so much to do” were visualizations that would only create my having to dig out of a bigger hole.

I would have liked everything in my life to be in order yesterday.

Instead, I see myself being “in front of” my life, business and finances. This focus has placed me on a new trajectory.

It’s working. Things are getting done. I’m feeling good. I see new horizons.

If you’re clearing out the old through challenges, may you find greater peace with a perspective of gratitude and see light that graces your life in ways it couldn’t before. Blue skies follow storms.

If you’ve been putting off taking care of things that you wish were over and done, consider getting around to it. One step at a time will do.

Begin. The rest is easy.

P.S. Know someone who might be uplifted by reading this? You’re invited to pass this on.

GET A ROUND TUIT

September 30, 2013

You haven’t heard from me for a while because I’ve been focusing on my mastermind groups, having fun and  a whirlwind of completions. You know, those pesky nags that remind you of unfinished business.

Years ago, I attended a lecture by the late Zig Ziglar where he gave us his business card  – a  wooden, round TUIT. Translated: get around to it. Stop procrastinating and take action.

Recently, my eyes opened to the big picture of what I’d been tolerating. The broken blinds – hey, they worked if I didn’t raise them. The dangling coat hanger because I didn’t install the molly bolts correctly. The clusters of daddy long legs that resided on my porch and invaded my house when the door opened. Half the burners on my stove not heating well, etc., etc. It was time for change.

The mailbox looks great even though I sanded it with the sandpaper inside out.

My mailbox I refinished looks great even though I didn’t know what I was doing.

I found that projects often come with obstacles and learning curves. Wasn’t I surprised to discover, while proudly using my electric hand sander for the first time, that I refinished my weather-beaten, wooden mailbox with the sandpaper attached inside out. It turned out great anyway.

I asked questions only to find that many “experts” give crazy advice and don’t know what they’re talking about but act like they do. However, my intentions eventually drew the right people and solutions to me. I continue to tackle projects in spite of my ignorance. I learn and then I’m no longer clueless on those subjects. Not knowing what to do no longer stops me for long.

I’m motivated because stuff left undone as well as unresolved history drain energy making it challenging to focus on goals. Plus, results feel great.

Make room for your destiny. Courageously take action. Throw out your holey undies; no, they’re not sacred. Connect with folks you’ve been meaning to contact. Clearing space in your head and environment releases a power for your dreams to come true.

Believe in you. You don’t have to know how to manifest your goals or even what they are.  If you have that gut feeling that now-is the-time-for-change, then now is the time to get around TUIT.
